Adrienne and Quang's story began at the Portrait Society of America conference in 2015, where Quang was painting a portrait demo on stage in front of 800 artists, one of whom was Adrienne. She had known of Quang from her art magazines since she was a teenager. Adrienne introduced herself to Quang afterwards when artists were gathering at the conference hotel bar, and they struck up a conversation. Quang's best friend and epic wing man Tommy, who was attending the conference as Quang's "date", saw a sweet connection happening and gave Adrienne his ticket to attend the formal Faculty Banquet with Quang in his place. Adrienne took the bait. Q&A are forever indebted to Tommy's generosity and intuition! They got to know each other at the banquet and recognized that each other were special.
Fast forward, Adrienne attended a friend's wedding in Alaska and booked a long layover in Denver to see Quang and other friends in the area. A studio visit with Quang turned into a gourmet 5-course meal prepared for Adrienne at his home the next night, and then into subsequent days spent together with deep soulful conversations going late into the night. Adrienne returned to her home in Pennsylvania knowing that life would never be the same. For their first official date, Quang flew Adrienne out to spend the Fourth of July weekend with him in Aspen to see Renée Fleming perform at the Aspen Music Festival. They reveled in the beauty of music and nature, hiked Maroon Bells, drove Quang's Porsche convertible through the mountains, and saw a double rainbow. Quang and Adrienne have been inseparable ever since, and made their lives together going back and forth between Colorado and Pennsylvania. As full time professional artists, they are able to live and work wherever they feel inspired.
In 2017, Quang and Adrienne bought their home at 4845 Plantation Ln. in Hellam, PA where their wedding will take place. The historic limestone home, built in 1764, is 5 miles from where Adrienne grew up. She had admired it since childhood. The former owner had been an artist and master gardener, turning the grounds into a lush botanical masterpiece. It seemed destined to be theirs. They got right to work designing and building two studios on the far end of their 3-acre property. They divide their time, maintaining residences in Colorado and Pennsylvania.
Since 2016 they have enjoyed travel adventures together, working together on their home and studio projects, dreaming together, cooking together, and still savoring those long conversations that last deep into the night.
