Visit Maine's most photographed lighthouse! Fort Williams park is a great place to see Portland Head Light, have a picnic, play games on the lawn, explore WWII forts, view the ocean at the entrance of Portland Harbor or fly kites!
Some of our favorite beaches in the area include Scarborough Beach, Ferry Beach, Old Orchard Beach and Amusement Park, Pine Point Beach, Crescent Beach State Park, Higgins Beach, Willard Beach, and Ferry Beach State Park.
Scarborough Beach, Old Orchard Beach, and Pine Point Beach are best for parking and boogie boarding.
Some of our favorite spots on Peaks Island include Sandy Beach and Centennial Beach for swimming and Cairn Beach for exploring the rocky shore. You can rent bikes or golf carts to get around, visit the Fifth Maine Regiment Museum, or wander through Battery Steele. Around the harbor, you’ll also find a few seafood restaurants, cafés, and a small grocery store!
Blythe and Burrows, The Shop by Island Creek Oysters, J's Oyster, Maine Oyster Company, Eventide Oyster Co., Scales, DiMillos, Fore Street, Central Provisions
It's hard to pick a restaurant in the Old Port because there are so many good ones! There is something for everyone whether it's a brewery, a distillery, casual fried food, fancy apps, seafood or burgers!
Some of my favorites with ocean views/seating are Portland Lobster Company, DiMillos, The Port Hole, Flatbread, RiRas (upstairs), and Luke's Lobster. They all have a fun, relaxed environment, some outdoor seating, good food, and great views!
Other great places to eat that are on the fancy side are Central Provisions, Street and Company, Scales, Fore Street, The Corner Room, Scales, and Via Vecchia.
Burger and beer lovers, see brewery tab above.
There are a lot of great Happy Hours all over the Old Port. Please reach out for more recommendations so I can help you find the place you are looking for :)
There are several great places to try lobster rolls, in Portland. High Roller Lobster company was founded by to local high schoolers back in the day, and Dimillos, the floating restaurant, has had their name on the lobster roll list for some time now. If you find your favorite lobster roll on your visit in Maine, let us know so we can try it out! :)
