Chilean Culture Tips

Warm &amp; Welcoming: Chileans are very friendly and family-oriented. Expect hugs and cheek kisses when greeting people! Punctuality: Social events (like weddings!) usually start later than the scheduled time. However, our ceremony will start on time 😉. Language: Most people speak only Spanish, but don’t worry—gestures, smiles, and Google Translate go a long way. Currency: The local currency is the Chilean Peso (CLP). You can pay with credit cards in most places, but having cash is useful for taxis and small shops. Tipping: A 10% tip is expected at restaurants, and usually added automatically to the bill. We don't tip at any other establishments. Outlets: Chile uses 220V electricity and Type C or L plugs. You might need a travel adapter. Personal Space: Chileans may stand closer when speaking and greet with a single cheek kiss, even if it’s your first time meeting.

March 16–25, 2026Join us after the wedding for a backpacking hike through Torres del Paine! This is an adventurous, 9-day trek for those who love nature, glaciers, and breathtaking landscapes. We'll be doing the O Circuit, a full loop around the park that includes the famous W Trek and the quieter, wilder backside. 🎒 Note: This is a self-guided trip—we’re happy to share our planning tips and help you coordinate if you're interested in joining! Budget: Depends if you bring your own gear or not. With flights + bus tickets + park fees + campsite (no gear included) it will be roughly $700 per person.

Permits & Refugio Bookings

Refugio and campsite reservations are required and act as your hiking permit inside the park. Book through the official providers: <a href="https://www.verticepatagonia.cl/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Vertice Patagonia</a> •⁠&nbsp;⁠Choose however many people you want to book it for and then select Paine Massif circuit•⁠&nbsp;⁠Dickson campsite is the first one at that would be from March 17th-18th. The rest get auto selected <a href="https://lastorres.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Fantástico Sur</a> (now Las Torres Patagonia) •⁠&nbsp;⁠Camp Serón on Monday March 16th - March 17th •⁠&nbsp;⁠Sector Central y Norte on March 22nd - March 23rd 🔥 These spots sell out fast, especially from December–March, so book as early as possible (they are open!)

Park Entrance Ticket

Must be purchased separately through the <a href="https://tickets.pasesparques.cl/en/events/parque-nacional-torres-del-paine-2024-08-09-15-20-00-0400" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">official CONAF site </a>(best done online for faster entry). Cost: $46.500CLP ~ 50 USD per person. Make sure to buy the "MÁS DE 3 DÍAS / ADULTO +18 AÑOS, PERSONAS CON DISCAPACIDAD Y ADULTO MAYOR" Ticket Keep your ticket receipt—it’s required at park checkpoints.
