This is Grace, and you're about to watch me marry her. But before you do, you should love her as much as I do, so here are some of my favourite facts about Grace!
1. She grew up in Albania (bonus points if you know where it is) but she still says "Indiana" whenever anyone asks her where she is from.
2. Grace is fluent in two languages, and the other one isn't even French!
3. Grace hates sauces, unless it is hot fudge, then she could put it on anything.
4. Grace is the kind of person who literally stops and smells the roses, and searches every patch of grass for a four leaf clover, and stops to watch every sunset.
5. Grace is the only person in the world who can listen to me talk for more than 3 minutes without asking me to shut up.
6. Grace is the most chaotic baker in the world. She never measures any ingredients or follows any recipes, and yet ends up with delicious results
7. Grace is a power walker. It has been said that she almost teleports while she walks, outstripping most planes, trains and cars
8. Grace has the patience of a Tibetan Monk, able to sit completely still for hours without moving a muscle
9. Grace is a sucker for good lighting. Our text threads are full of pictures of random food, windows, faucets, potatoes, garbage cans, cats, and encyclopedias with the caption "I just really liked the lighting"
10. Grace is a very creative and artistic person. She writes poetry (check out Honey and Lemons, Sunshine for the Soul, and In the Field on Amazon) and she makes and sells art, crocheted crafts, pressed flower frames, stickers, and many more (check out her instagram @whimsicalfields)
This is Aidan, and you're about to watch me marry him. But before you do, you should love him as much as I do, so here are some of my favourite facts about Aidan!
1. He wanted to be a herpetologist (someone who studies snakes) when he was a kid.
2. He always listens to chill atmospheric music while he sleeps, and will wake up if the music cuts out during the night.
3. He is the fastest reader I've ever met, and has been reading big books since he was just a little guy. He has an expansive vocabulary, and to this day, he sometimes mispronounces big words because he learned them from books instead of from hearing them.
4. He collects board games and beats me at almost every one we play except chess.
5. He went swimming with dolphins one time.
6. He can talk about basically anything for hours and loves to debate.
7. He doesn't know the names of any flowers (he might have learned a couple from me now).
8. He forced himself to like coffee a couple years ago and now it's one of his favorite things ever (and he could tell you 10 hours worth of facts about coffee origins, processing, roasting, preparation, etc.).
9. He once (co)wrote a rap debating whether or not water is wet with Nick Barton (learn more about him in the Wedding Party section of this website).
10. He met Rend Collective at a Chili's once!
It's a tale as old as time...
Sort of
We both attended Kingswood University, and were in the same program for our first two years, and that was the extent of our relationship for a while. Going into our third year, we had a mutual friend that didn't come back to school (thanks Louise) so we grew closer in the vacuum of her absence. We spent that semester watching the 6th season of Superstore and rewatching Psych, as well as playing a lot of chess and croquetnol (but never learning how to spell it).
That Christmas, Grace went home to Albania, and we found ourselves texting (a lot), sending each other pictures of brick walls, writing poetry about each other, and staying up late enough to say good morning despite the time difference. When we returned to campus, it was not much more than a month before we started dating.
The rest, as they say, is history.
After countless chess games, coffee dates, sunsets, one sunrise, movies, restaurants, farmers markets, and steak dinners, Aidan proposed during a painting picnic by painting a picture of him proposing (it was very cute).
The rest of the story continues on June 29th, and we hope to see you there!
