The Bride’s Party

Commentary by Aimee

I didn’t choose a maid of honor for my wedding. Each person in my party is absolutely amazing and important to me in a different way. To hear more about them and why I couldn’t choose, read on!

I’ve known Andrea since before I can remember, practically as long as anyone in my family. She was basically my other half growing up, and I always assumed she would be standing next to me on my big day. When we were kids I couldn't imagine going a day without seeing her. If you had told me that there was going to be a time when she lived on the other side of the country and I wouldn't see her for years, I couldn't have believed you. Growing up with someone, they shape a lot of your personality.

There's still a lot of things about me that I think came from her.

She made my childhood great, and I wouldn't trade those years for the world. I feel lucky to still have you around 35 years later. (And Eddie too!)

Then along came Rachel…

Rachel loves with all her heart and is always giving to support the people around her. She pulled me through the darkest years of my life, also known as my 20s. I don't think I would have made it without her. She also shaped part of my personality, but her biggest impact may have been on my Spotify playlist. (Just kidding! But if you’re looking for music recommendations she is a great person to ask.)

When Rachel got married, the choice was still easy. I had a Matron of Honor and a Maid of Honor. Then Andrea had to go and make it hard again by getting married too.

The next person of honor is Ezra. They came along a little later, but my love for them couldn't grow greater. They taught me about introspection, communication, how to look slightly less awkward in photos, and about 100 new hobbies. Thick or thin, fowl of fair, Ezra is always a phone call away. They even uprooted their life and followed me all the way to Michigan.

Tyler was the latest addition to our friend group. I knew we were going to be friends the first time I met him, and, honestly, he didn't get much say in the matter. Tyler is always down to try anything from learning to make sushi to going to the Bahamas together. Even though I moved away he still always visits and invites us on trips together.

Jacey Tyll

Jacey is Jimmy’s maid of honor, but I’m adding her here as a special guest because I could not have done this without her. She really pulled us through the wedding process and stepped up when we were falling behind. Shes been an absolute rock.
