San Sebastian is not a very big city, so as long as you're staying somewhere relatively central you shouldn't have any difficulty reaching most locations.
In general we recommend staying around La Concha - which is the main beach taken from most photographs - the Old Town or the Gros neighbourhood - this is located behind the surfing beach. You could of course look further afield than San Sebastián for cheaper accommodation.
BOOK EARLY! It's a busy destination and accommodation does book out in advance.
The only thing to keep in mind is that from the far end of La Concha (Ondarreta Beach) to the old town, it is roughly a 27 minute walk. From the church we're getting married in to the Gros neighbourhood, it is around a 20 minute walk.
You'll find accommodation through all of the normal sites, AirBnB, Booking.com, Trivago, VRBO etc.
San Sebastian has loads of hotels, however in the city centre they tend to be a bit expensive with most of them coming in around €200 per night as a minimum with the more high-end hotels coming in closer to €400 per night. There are some beautiful hotels, including the Hotel Maria Cristina and if you feel like treating yourselves for a night or two, it would definitely be worth it.
Some centrally located hotels that we have come across to get you started:
- La Sala Plaza - most likely where we will be staying. It is located in the old town directly in front of the beach and a 3 minute walk to the church.
- One Shot Hotel Tabakalera House
Some great options that will definitely be more economical than a hotel, especially if you plan on staying for a few days.
- San Sebastian accommodation for two people
- San Sebastian accommodation for four people
- San Sebastian accommodation for six people
- San Sebastian accommodation for eight people
San Sebastian doesn't only cater towards the more luxury style holiday, but also has some hostels available as it's a common city on the backpacking circuit.
- Hostel USTURRE - Great location and it's €25 per night for a bed in a dorm if anyone felt like booking a full dorm room.
Pensiones are generally cheaper than hotels and AirBnBs but more private than hostels. They are more like a typical BnB (without the breakfast) and generally you can get a room from between €50 - €100. They are very bare bones and it's normally just a bed and bathroom but there are more expensive ones with more space as well.
