Most guests will be dressed in Indian formal attire. For men, they can wear a Kurta. For women, Indian formal wear often consists of Sarees or Lehengas. If you feel more comfortable wearing formal Western attire, that is also appropriate.

The reception will be Black Tie Formal. For men, a suit and tie would be most appropriate. For women, a Western-style gown will do. Please note, Indian formal attire is also welcome, such as Sarees, Lehengas for women and Kurta's for men.
