Their story really began January 2021 when they both began conversing more over Instagram. They would comment on each other’s stories all the time and quickly discovered they had a lot in common
As conversations kept progressing and getting more personal, it was safe to say they now became friends. Daniel invited Akilia to a group friend trip to New York City, which is where their friendship really began to flourish. They had many deep conversations and by the time the trip was over, they had a joke that they were the male and female versions of each other because of all their similarities.

You would think after their trip to NY, they fell in love and lived happily ever after…but you’d be wrong.
It wasn’t until November 2021 that they realized that they should be together. Daniel is a man that knows what he wants, and he acts on it, a trait that Akilia really admires in him. Daniel was the first to admit his feelings for Akilia, even at risk of ruining their friendship. Akilia on the other hand, wasn’t brave enough to admit her feelings until awhile after.
It goes without saying that things quickly accelerated between the two. Things were perfect, and seemed surreal, but they both really trusted that they were made for each other and didn’t question things.
They got their first apartment together later the next year and just continued to grow stronger in their relationship and love.

Fast forward to May 2023, on a 7 day cruise, Daniel proposed to Akilia on the seas between Bahamas and Dominican Republic.
The couple soon decided to buy their first home together but wanted to be husband and wife first.
They eloped with their immediate family as witnesses on August 12,2023. This marked their unwavering dedication to one another. Soon after, they closed on their first home and was ready to being their forever together!
