Travel to Carbondale can be done in a few different ways! The closest large airport to Carbondale is St. Louis International Airport. The airport is two hours from Carbondale, so you will need to rent a car and drive. You can also fly to Chicago (either O'Hare or Midway). From Chicago you will again need to rent a car and drive 6 hours OR you can take the Amtrak train to Carbondale.

Probably! The easiest way to get to Carbondale from whichever airport you decide to fly into is by renting a car. There are services available to get you form St. Louis and Chicago so car rental is not 100% necessary. There are car rental companies at the airports that you will fly into as well as car rental companies in Carbondale if you'd like to wait till you get to town to rent.
