We met in Mexico back in 2019 at our friends Steve and Val’s wedding.We reconnected a few years later at Akshay’s Canada Day party when Julie invited herself over after finding out he was single. Later that evening Akshay left his own party to meet up with her at a different event. The rest is history!

How We Met

Together, we got to cross off Julie’s #1 bucket list destination in November 2023, Patagonia! Before leaving she presented Akshay with a PowerPoint presentation of all the amazing places they would see and mountains they would climb. She almost had a breakdown when Akshay asked if they could fit in a penguin excursion, just days before leaving. The penguins were HOURS away from the scheduled itinerary and everything was already booked and paid for! Akshay decided he would propose at the end of the hike she was most excited about, where they’d get the most impressive view of 3 peaks towering over a gorgeous blue lagoon. We did our research, picked the best weather day and started early to beat the crowds. It was the perfect day until about 30 minutes from the top when a blizzard appeared out of nowhere! A ranger told us we were only allowed 10 minutes at the top due to potential dangers from the storm. Akshay was sliding all over the place and Julie was on the verge of tears. But there was no turning back now, we had made it all this way! At the top, we hid behind a rock, hoping the skies would clear up. Akshay had never seen Julie so grumpy and all he could think about was how he was going to propose to her in such a mood. After a cold, sad, painful 30 minutes, the clouds magically cleared enough to get a few good photos! Akshay kept asking Julie if she was happy now. A few minutes later it all made sense as he got on one knee!
