As many of you may now know Akshay and Berenice met on St. Simons Island, GA. Both Akshay and Berenice were working for Sea Island at the time. Akshay lived in employee housing, and Berenice had just moved into the state and her apartment was not ready yet, thus she also lived in employee housing. After days of being cooped up in her room Berenice decided to hang out in the lobby to make friends. Since the lobby was empty, she read the orientation manual instead.

Suddenly I guy walks in. He was handsome and his hair looked too good. His pants were all wrinkly and he was walking around with a portable speaker on full blast. Our friend Terry, the manager, told him to turn it down because a girl is reading. He turned it down and started to talk to Berenice. Nothing noteworthy, except Berenice noticed the interesting weird accent.

Later that evening, again trying to make friends, Berenice was hanging out in the lobby once again. The evening security guard was in the lobby and an excited couple came in with some donuts. Apparently it was his birthday! They settled in to talk next to me on the couch. They were talking about a bonfire they had enjoyed recently, and how their good friend Ash wasn't able to go. The birthday boy, Jeff, asked Berenice if she had met Ash. Jeff proceeds to give a glowing review of Ash and how he is a good and sweet guy and how I should meet him. Low and behold he walks in!

They started to talk and they hit it off! At some point during the interesting conversations Berenice mentions that she has board games. and that is how the fun began.

After evenings of playing the games: Uno, Loteria, mancala, taboo. Sometimes with Jeff, sometimes with their other friend Rhonda, the evenings would pass in good company and conversation.

A single week later Akshay asked Berenice out. They has to wait a whole month for their first date, it was Christmas Season at Sea Island and they would not have the same days off till January. In the mean time, the pleasant evenings continued, after the long work days some Uno and some late night waffle house were good companionship.

January finally arrived and after a month of hard work, the anticipated date had finally arrived. Berenice wore overalls and Akshay wore a leather jacket. They went to the movies and watched Jimanji: The Next Level. They then went to a Korean restaurant. Then roller skating. It was a beautiful evening, that had the perfect ending. Before going home Akshay asked Berenice if she wanted to be his girlfriend. Fast forwarded 4 years and a pandemic, you find us here today ready to be united in holy matrimony.
