David Saldivar is a mutual friend of the couple. David and Justine got to know each other during her short year working Beach Patrol as a beach lifeguard. David was just dumbfounded that Justine was still single and asked if he could give her number to someone. She said, "Sure, but they have to love Jesus and they have to be okay with my muscles and me working out!" David and Alan used to go to church together and have played softball together over the years. Long story short, David finally gave Al Justine's number and said, "Call her! Shes pretty and she loves Jesus". The couple is forever grateful to David for taking a chance on setting up two complete strangers. Though David takes zero credit for this match made in heaven; there's no denying that God used him in a very profound way by that one conversation.

After a month of texting and busy schedules, the couple finally had their first date. SUP boarding on Longboat Key. Alan showed Justine the island and tons of cool wildlife.

Alan writes in the sand for the first time to J! Although I’d like to say the rest is history, it took J several more dates to be fully convinced she was interested in this guy and wanted to see him exclusively.

1st Double Date with J’s friends. Because Al and J had no mutual friends besides David who set them up, it was important for J to see Al around people in her world. Especially because all of her family and best friends were in Missouri. The couple had to be super intentional in the beginning to get to know each other. They both lived in different towns, went to different churches, and worked on different islands. If they wanted to cross paths, it would not be by coincidence.

Trunk- or-Treat event at J's church. Conversation tonight made J say, "This guy is a keeper... you don't want to let him go or you might regret it".

Al showed J around Sarasota for the day. Of course, Hali came along too!

First road trip together. What better way to get to know each other than a road trip! The couple knew that they would either come out of this trip wanting to be with the other person even more than before, or wanting to be far away from them! Either way, they were both up for the adventure and willing to take the road trip and see where it led.

It was time for J to get in Al's world! She was so excited to see Georgia for the first time, and see Alan around his family.

Alan went to CrossFit with J for the first time! Location: CrossFit Currahee.

Black Rock Mountain. This couple is getting closer and closer. They are loving adventuring together.

Alan asked J to be his girlfriend officially. The couple held hands while walking and J asked, “What are you going to do if your little niece and nephews ask you who I am? You can’t just hold my hand and say I am a friend!” Al said, “I will tell them you’re my girlfriend. Then asked J to be his girlfriend”.

Alan came to Justine’s CrossFit competition in Clearwater, FL. Having him there to support her was the BEST!

Kayaking with Hali. This was not as much of a relaxing time as the couples normal kayak and paddle board trips are; because Hali spent more time in the water than on the yaks. However, Al was a champ and was so kind with Hali.

Two month anniversary as a couple. UTC Mall in Sarasota to look at the lights. Okay okay technically they hadn't been an official couple for two months, but they count their anniversary from "first meet".

First Christmas together. Love makes you do things you don't want to do for the other person. I think it goes without saying, only one person was excited about this picture and those matching pajamas. Another reason why J loves this man!

Alan purposed! She said "YES!" Egmont Key, FL Alan wrote to Justine in the sand every day he went to work for the past 4 months. So, it was a no brainier when it came to purposing to her that he would not do it any other way than writing in the sand. Alan wrote, "Will you marry me?" And to answer, Justine wrote "YES!"

Month 7 Anniversary.

First time flying together! Alan is going home to Missouri to meet Justine's family and friends!

The couple celebrated their 9 Month Anniversary. Today was the original date that the couple had set to get married before they postponed the original wedding date. The Lord is daily growing them closer to HIM and closer TOGETHER! They are daily learning how to love each other and put each other first.

10 Month Anniversary. Each anniversary the couple likes to try a new restaurant. This time it was "Swordfish Grille". 10/10 Recommend if you're visiting the area!
