Alana&nbsp;and&nbsp;Mikhael&nbsp;met&nbsp;in&nbsp;March&nbsp;2025&nbsp;through&nbsp;Instagram.&nbsp;Alana&nbsp;added&nbsp;Mikhael&nbsp;hoping&nbsp;to&nbsp;get&nbsp;some&nbsp;help&nbsp;and&nbsp;learn&nbsp;more&nbsp;about&nbsp;the&nbsp;traditions&nbsp;of&nbsp;their&nbsp;Greco-Melkite&nbsp;Church&nbsp;—&nbsp;the&nbsp;Church&nbsp;they&nbsp;both&nbsp;belong&nbsp;to&nbsp;and&nbsp;were&nbsp;baptized&nbsp;in.&nbsp;Alana&nbsp;has&nbsp;always&nbsp;been&nbsp;active&nbsp;as&nbsp;a&nbsp;catechist&nbsp;in&nbsp;her&nbsp;parish&nbsp;in&nbsp;Brazil,&nbsp;where&nbsp;she&nbsp;grew&nbsp;up&nbsp;and&nbsp;lived&nbsp;her&nbsp;whole&nbsp;life.&nbsp;But&nbsp;when&nbsp;she&nbsp;added&nbsp;Mikhael,&nbsp;her&nbsp;first&nbsp;thought&nbsp;was,&nbsp;“Wow,&nbsp;what&nbsp;a&nbsp;cutie&nbsp;😍.” She&nbsp;started&nbsp;the&nbsp;conversation,&nbsp;and&nbsp;soon,&nbsp;the&nbsp;two&nbsp;realized&nbsp;they&nbsp;had&nbsp;everything&nbsp;in&nbsp;common.&nbsp;The&nbsp;rest,&nbsp;as&nbsp;you&nbsp;can&nbsp;guess,&nbsp;is&nbsp;history. They&nbsp;talked&nbsp;online&nbsp;for&nbsp;almost&nbsp;four&nbsp;weeks&nbsp;before&nbsp;meeting&nbsp;in&nbsp;person.&nbsp;They&nbsp;visited&nbsp;each&nbsp;other&nbsp;a&nbsp;few&nbsp;times&nbsp;and&nbsp;made&nbsp;a&nbsp;commitment&nbsp;to&nbsp;talk&nbsp;every&nbsp;single&nbsp;day.&nbsp;It&nbsp;quickly&nbsp;became&nbsp;clear&nbsp;that&nbsp;they&nbsp;shared&nbsp;the&nbsp;same&nbsp;values&nbsp;and&nbsp;the&nbsp;same&nbsp;dream:&nbsp;a&nbsp;relationship&nbsp;and&nbsp;a&nbsp;family&nbsp;centered&nbsp;in&nbsp;Christ. Mikhael&nbsp;proposed&nbsp;to&nbsp;Alana&nbsp;while&nbsp;visiting&nbsp;her&nbsp;in&nbsp;Brazil&nbsp;with&nbsp;his&nbsp;family&nbsp;for&nbsp;her&nbsp;birthday.&nbsp;First,&nbsp;he&nbsp;recreated&nbsp;every&nbsp;step&nbsp;of&nbsp;their&nbsp;very&nbsp;first&nbsp;date&nbsp;—&nbsp;even&nbsp;taking&nbsp;her&nbsp;back&nbsp;to&nbsp;the&nbsp;café&nbsp;where&nbsp;he&nbsp;had&nbsp;asked&nbsp;her&nbsp;to&nbsp;be&nbsp;his&nbsp;girlfriend.&nbsp;Finally,&nbsp;at&nbsp;the&nbsp;very&nbsp;church&nbsp;where&nbsp;their&nbsp;story&nbsp;began,&nbsp;he&nbsp;proposed. Alana&nbsp;thought&nbsp;they&nbsp;were&nbsp;simply&nbsp;visiting&nbsp;so&nbsp;she&nbsp;could&nbsp;introduce&nbsp;her&nbsp;beloved&nbsp;priest&nbsp;—&nbsp;whom&nbsp;she&nbsp;loves&nbsp;like&nbsp;a&nbsp;father&nbsp;—&nbsp;to&nbsp;Mikhael’s&nbsp;family.&nbsp;Mikhael&nbsp;used&nbsp;to&nbsp;tease&nbsp;her,&nbsp;often&nbsp;saying,&nbsp;“If&nbsp;I&nbsp;asked&nbsp;for&nbsp;your&nbsp;hand&nbsp;in&nbsp;marriage&nbsp;today,&nbsp;what&nbsp;would&nbsp;you&nbsp;say?”&nbsp;and&nbsp;Alana&nbsp;always&nbsp;replied,&nbsp;“Finally!”&nbsp;But&nbsp;this&nbsp;time,&nbsp;it&nbsp;wasn’t&nbsp;a&nbsp;joke.&nbsp;He&nbsp;looked&nbsp;at&nbsp;her&nbsp;and&nbsp;asked,&nbsp;“If&nbsp;I&nbsp;asked&nbsp;you&nbsp;to&nbsp;marry&nbsp;me&nbsp;today,&nbsp;what&nbsp;would&nbsp;you&nbsp;say?” At&nbsp;first,&nbsp;Alana&nbsp;thought&nbsp;he&nbsp;was&nbsp;joking&nbsp;again…&nbsp;until&nbsp;she&nbsp;realized&nbsp;he&nbsp;was&nbsp;serious.&nbsp;She&nbsp;burst&nbsp;into&nbsp;tears&nbsp;and,&nbsp;of&nbsp;course,&nbsp;said&nbsp;a&nbsp;big&nbsp;YES! We&nbsp;can’t&nbsp;wait&nbsp;to&nbsp;celebrate&nbsp;our&nbsp;wedding&nbsp;and&nbsp;reception&nbsp;with&nbsp;all&nbsp;of&nbsp;you&nbsp;this&nbsp;coming&nbsp;January!
