We are SO excited to see you all!
We are SO excited to see you all!
It all started with chicken strips...no really, it did! Though our story isn't a tear jerker, it certainly is fitting for us. On November 1st, 2022, we connected, for the first time, how most Gen Z individuals do...by swiping right (sorry mom).
I - Alanis- reached out to Vincent first, intrigued by his ever so witty profile (I later found out it literally was a full dialogue from a star wars scene). Since I had 0 idea how to approach a stranger online, I went the simplest - and most cringy- route. I saw Vincent had mentioned his go to meal was chicken strips and beer, so I shot over a message that simply said "You had me at chicken strips". To my surprise, he actually replied! Our conversations flowed effortlessly and after a few days of talking, we decided to meet in person. We both agreed that doing an activity for a first date is much better than staring at someone while they eat food at a restaurant, so we landed on bowling. After bowling, we drove up to Rocky Butte, drank a couple ciders, and got to know each other better.
*Fun fact! I showed Vincent a party trick on how to open a beer bottle with a key and when he tried to be as cool as me he sliced his hand open and proceeded to bleed all over himself. He then had to hang out the rest of the night with a hand that wouldn't stop bleeding. His pants are STILL stained to this day.*
A few months into dating we decided that we were comfortable enough in our relationship to move in together and haven't looked back. We then took the next step that most couples do after moving in together - getting a dog! We saved Daria, our old lady Australian shepherd, from a shelter back in March of 2023. Then, in April of 2024, we added Bonnie, our golden retriever pup, to our little family. They both have been with us on this exciting life journey and we couldn't ask for better doggies.
To sum it all up - we have basically been attached at the hip as best friends and partners since the day we met and don't regret anything ever since. Now, 2 years later, we are planning a wedding that celebrates our unique journey and are grateful for that fateful swipe that brought us together.
