Call it fate, but I truly believe that God sees everything in the grand scheme of things.

Alema and I first matched on Mutual—a dating app for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints—back in February 2024. We chatted for about two weeks, but I barely responded because of my busy schedule. Eventually, he asked, “Hey, I was curious to see if you’d be interested in going on a date this week?” But instead of replying, I ghosted him. I didn’t answer his message and ended up deleting the app.

My reason was simple: I wanted to meet my husband in person, not online. I’ve always believed that not everything good comes from the internet and that people can easily fake identities there. So, I prayed and told God to take over. I decided to focus on my career and let His plan unfold.

Two months passed—March, April—and then came May 11. I saw him again at a Young Single Adults camp. When our eyes met, my heart skipped a beat, but I quickly turned away. I felt shy and nervous—it would’ve been awkward to say, “Hey, you’re the guy from Mutual!” So I tried to ignore the thought of talking to him.

July 24, 2024 — During Family Home Evening at Kleiman Park, my best friend and I were playing football when he walked up to us and asked our names. After the game, we all went to grab tacos nearby—and that’s how our friendship began.

We started hanging out as friends for two weeks, then went on a few dates just the two of us. It took me about three weeks to finally agree to be his girlfriend. Funny enough, he didn’t even recognize me from the dating app—but I remembered him right away! When I told him later, he said, “Well, a lot of girls ghosted me—why would I remember one who didn’t want to go on a date with me?” We both laughed, realizing how God works in mysterious ways.

One evening after a gym workout, we sat in the car talking for over an hour. That’s when I realized I truly liked him. I kissed him and said yes—we were officially dating exclusively. From then on, we made countless memories together—the good and the bad—but all of it was worth it.

Fast forward to April 20, 2025—he asked me to marry him, and of course, I said yes. 💍

Looking back, I can see how God’s hand was guiding us all along. Our communication faded for two months, yet we met again. I tried to ignore him at camp, but we crossed paths at church—he had just moved into my ward. Even when I avoided talking to him on Sundays, he still reached out.

God was there from the very beginning, showing small signs and quiet miracles. He always wants the best for us—in His timing, His place, and with the right person. Alema is the answer to the prayer I once whispered.

So, if you happen to be single, never stop talking to God about your heart’s desires. Faith it till you make it.

God knows you. He loves you. And you are never alone.
