Alena and Matt met at a Halloween party. Matt's ears perked up when Alena mentioned that she was a runner. Later they went on a run, and to Matts amazement, Alena was able to not only keep up, but hold a conversation for 7 miles.

Matt and Alena continued as runner buddies over the next two weeks. On November 12th, Matt invited Alena to his birthday party. To Alena's surprise, this was not just an ordinary birthday party. It consisted of a bonfire, smores, and blowing up a boat loaded with hundreds of pumpkins and explosives.

To Matts surprise, Alena fit in well and didn't miss a beat. After a few more runs, swing dancing, practicing the piano together and falling for each other, Alena and Matt decided to start dating on December 14th.

Over the following months, Matt and Alena flourished. Matt taught Alena how to ski, Alena taught Matt how to play pickleball. Alena became a nurse at Primary Children's, and Matt finished his Junior year at BYU. After graduation Alena and Matt went on a motorcycle trip with fellow friends to Costa Rica.

Throughout their courtship Matt and Alena have set ambitious spiritual, financial and physical goals.

On July 17th, after Matt got back from a fishing trip in Alaska, he decided to "set the hook" on the catch of his life and proposed to Alena on top of a mountain. Alena shouted "YES" from the top of Provo Peak, and the two of them cooked a steak dinner out of the back of Matts truck to celebrate

Matt and Alena's wedding will be unforgettable. They hope that all who attend will feel a renewed zeal towards life as they see this young couple depart on life's most exciting and fulfilling journey.
