Where should I stay?
We recommend staying at the venue for atleast the day of the wedding. But if you plan on extending your stay we recommend looking into Airbnb's near Lamego, Portugal. It will be much cheaper and easier than finding a hotel. Also, There are many Villas available in the area that can accommodate large groups. We recommend renting with other guests that you know are going. It will make your dramatically cheaper. For the night of the wedding, we do suggest staying at the venue's hotel, especially if you are not familiar with Portugal. The venue has not yet opened up their booking for that date. I will send out messages to everyone once available.
What does "Black Tie" mean?
For Men, please wear suits or tuxes.
For Women, please wear mid-ankle to floor length gowns.
When to book flights?
We suggest to start stalking the airlines now. Flights tend to be the best to book between 3-6 months out. I have found flights for around $600- $800 round trip. Cheaper are out there. Just need to constantly be watching. Also, we suggest flying TAP (Top Air Portugal) they offer red-eye flights.
When should we arrive in Portugal?
We suggest to make a trip out of it! The time change wont hit you until about your 3rd day abroad. So plan to come a few days before the wedding so you aren't completely exhausted and drained when the day arrives.
Do I need a passport?
Yes!
Where should we fly into?
Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport - located in Porto, Portugal
How far is the venue from the suggested airport?
About an hour and a half car ride.
Should we rent a car?
If you plan on staying to vacation after or before the wedding, than yes. If you are only coming for the wedding than it is not 100% necessary but it might be easier and cheaper than getting a car service or cab.
