Alex and Allison first met four years ago but reconnected in June 2024 through a running app called Strava. While Allison was training for a marathon, Alex would innocently like her posts and leave encouraging comments. Before Allison’s first marathon—Grandma’s Marathon — Alex sent her a message on Instagram to wish her luck and let her know he’d be praying for her (he swears it was still innocent!).

A month later, Allison reached out to Alex before her second marathon. After she earned another personal record and Boston qualification, their messages quickly turned into daily conversations that have continued to this day.

After countless hours on FaceTime and a few plane rides between Nashville and California, on November 22, 2024, Alex made it official. After a few months of long-distance, Allison decided to move to Ventura, California, for the summer to be closer to Alex and to see if he might be the guy she wanted to marry. Luckily for him, it only took her one week to know for sure!

Those months together were full of adventures, laughter, and growing closer on a deeper level. But soon it was time for Allison to return to Nashville, and long distance began again. During that time, the two had honest conversations about marriage and when a proposal might happen. Alex even gave her a timeframe of, “sometime between August and October.” What Allison didn’t know was that Alex already had a plan and not just any plan. He had been secretly coordinating with her family and friends to pull off a surprise proposal she never saw coming.

On September 13, 2025, at Radnor Lake, surrounded by the beauty of nature, Alex got down on one knee and asked Allison to marry him. It was a moment they’ll never forget—the beginning of their next great adventure together.
