National Mall
The National Mall just a short drive from The Wharf and it is full of many memorials and monuments including the Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam and World War 2 Memorials, and the Washington Monument. At the eastern end is the domed U.S. Capitol, and the White House is to the north. It's also home to several (free!) Smithsonian museums that can be a lot of fun to check out.
