Our ceremony will be the evening of Saturday Oct 5, but for anyone who's able to be in San Diego for longer we are planning some smaller events from Oct 2-7.
To get to San Diego by plane, you should fly into San Diego Airport which is located next to downtown San Diego. Rental cars are available there, but many of the destinations we recommend are nearby and have limited parking so Lyft/Uber and walking may be a better choice than a rental car for some people. Lyft from the airport averages ~$35. We are planning on coordinating transportation to the ceremony for people not driving. Some flights into LAX are cheaper than direct to San Diego, however LAX is a 3-5 hour drive from San Diego so we wouldn't recommend this. North Park is also very accessible by bicycle, and we have a few loaner bikes if anyone who is staying near there would like to borrow one.
This fashionable hotel is in the middle of downtown close to popular tourist areas like the pedestrian friendly Gaslamp Quarter, Balboa Park, and the bayfront. It has good bus and rideshare connections to our neighborhood where we'll be planning events.
The Berkshire Motel is central to North Park and many of our favorite hangouts and is also only one bus stop away from our house. North Park is home to major entertainment and dining districts, with abundant cafes and restaurants along 30th Street, University Avenue, and El Cajon Boulevard.
There are many individual rentals nearby from VRBO or Airbnb. Many events other than the ceremony will be centered in the neighborhoods of North Park, City Heights, South Park, and Downtown so that's where we'd recommend staying. If you're looking for rentals on a map, we recommend looking between the 163 and I-15 highways, and south of I-8.
