HER STORY

Alex and I originally met in the Fall of 2018 at Wayland Baptist in Plainview where we both attended undergrad. I was a statistics tutor at the time and Alex was failing the class. We had a time set late one evening to meet in the library before one of his exams. I was exhausted, didn’t have a care in the world about what I looked like and went to the library to get the session over with. I walked in and I saw Alex sitting at the front table with his baseball hoodie and hat on backwards (like he was something cool) and thought to myself “shoot, I really hope that's not him.” I had seen him around campus before and thought he was pretty cute. Low and behold, it was him…not the other guy I thought from stalking the name on instagram. I got the session over with (completely embarrassed) and left the library. I immediately called my mom freaking out. She calmed me down and told me to just get the rest of the tutoring sessions over with and that I would probably never see him again after that. Fast forward two years, my good friend Laura and I started to notice Alex and DJ working out at the gym the same time we were. Weeks went on and they seemed to be there EVERY time we were. Neither of us will admit we made sure to work out that time every day. One evening Alex worked up the courage to ask us out to Chimy’s…or maybe it was me that asked…and after a “double date” with the best margs and some pretty fun guys, the rest is history! Thank goodness for Alex’s poor stats skills, good friends, the gym, and the ONE time my mom was very wrong!

HIS STORY

I first met Kenlie the fall semester of my freshman year at WBU. I was struggling in my statistics class and needed a tutor. I went to the academic advisor’s office and requested one, she handed me a phone number labeled ‘Kenlie Baxter.’ I thought to myself, she sounds cute, lets see what happens. After scheduling an appointment I was going to meet her in the library. Fortunately the best looking gal there was my tutor. I ended up making a 62 in the stats class and got to meet a pretty awesome girl so it was a win-win. College went on and lucky for me Kenlie and I were both Sports Science majors, so I saw her often and took advantage of having her number for any help I "needed" in those classes as well. A couple years went by then my buddy DJ and I found the perfect time to work out everyday at the YMCA. After getting to know each other a bit more Kenlie couldn't help but ask us out to Chimy's one Friday night. We went and the rest is history. After two and a half years of dating, we got engaged in October 2023, and are ready to get hitched June 2024!
