It only took Alex nine days to tell Scott she loved him. It took Scott ten, because he didn't want to steal her thunder on day nine. One of their favorite stories from when they first started their courtship was when Scott sent a random photo of a giraffe (see above) to which Alex replied (not knowing she'd be right) "Are you in a car wash?". From that point on giraffe's would forever have an imprint on their relationship. To give you an insight into how their love has progressed, the couple would like to share a few poems written to each other over the years. Scott to Alex (2016)"An hour lesson in relativity. The moon has hardly moved. Felt like an astral lap to me. How the mind has it's way. The heart swings like a pendulum. I think them co-conspirators. It's not exactly waiting. Menghini winery is located 2.5 miles outside of the historical town of Julian, CA. They are the second oldest winery in San Diego County and the oldest in Julian.

Things to Do

A funny memory Randi remember's from high school was the time she got stuck in a fence due to her oversized backpack and Alex so kindly stopped to take a photo and laughed, then proceeded to help her. The friendship that knows no bounds.

We've called him "Mr. Fun" for years because well, he is fun. Now, my kids and their kids call him "Uncle Fun", and that makes it even more special.

One year for Halloween, Alex didn't know what to dress up as for a work costume party so Sadie suggested the cookie monster not knowing Alex would actually do it. She showed up the next day with a blue boa around her head and a bucket full of cookies.

Sophie tagged along on a cousin trip to Las Vegas. The first night, she had to run back to the hotel room to grab something and found two strangers (more cousins) getting ready in the bathroom. She thought she might have walked into the wrong room. This was how Sophie met Alex and they became close friends that night. Also, fun fact! They are hand twins. Any ring Alex wears, fits Sophie perfectly and vice versa :)

One of Hilary's favorite memories with Alex is giving their Lola (Grandma) the nickname "pumpkin pie". Lola always giggles when they say it and it puts the biggest smile on their face.

One of Kate's favorite memories with Alex is when their planned afternoon of swimming laps turned into hanging out in the shallow end talking about life. They dream of one day achieving their new shared goal of creating a rollerblading choir.

On a Harley ride in the Smokey Mountains, we were all hanging out on the deck of the house we rented drinking scotch and having a cigar. As the evening progressed, everyone but you and I went to bed. We stayed up most of the night, drinking more whisky and discussing life. When I look back on our friendship, I think that was the night it began. I loved it and I love you.

After living next door to us in northern Michigan for a summer, the Whitney's were moving back to California. Right before loading everyone into the car, Scott, Ched and I walked the property one last time. Every time we came upon a tree stump, Ched or I would tell Scott that he had karate-chopped it down bare-handed. He was 5, and we nicknamed him Chopper, on the spot. I don't know if Scott bought the tall tale, but he seemed to like it.

I'll never forget the time Scott, anguishing in pain from his motorcycle accident, came up to SLO with Alex and my family to spend my 50th birthday together. We sipped the world's best gin out of personalized copita glasses he made for me.

Scott and I have both run each other's car until it ran out of gas. And neither of us cared. In fact, it made us both laugh. He's that kind of guy and that kind of friend. I honestly don't think anyone can be relied on more to be there for you when you are in need or times are bad. But he can definitely be relied upon to be there when times are great. I'm glad he met his match and didn't let her get away. Because now I have two friends like that! (Minus the gas  thing.)
