If you've known Alex for a while, you've probably heard about Douglas... and if you've known Douglas, you definitely know about Alex.
Their story began back in 2014 at the University of Alabama. Funny enough, Douglas wasn't even a student there, he was just helping his twin sister, Anna, move into her dorm. Alex and Anna were both moving in early for sorority rush, and in a friendly gesture (that may or may not have been a bribe for friendship), Alex showed up at Anna's door with a giant bag of cookies. That's when she met Douglas and though he'd like everyone to know she didn't share a single one of those cookies, a friendship was instantly born.
After move-in day, Douglas went back to begin school at Mississippi State University, and they started what would become a 10-year long-distance friendship. Through college, first jobs, moves, and football weekends, they stayed in touch; Douglas holding out quiet hope for something more, and Alex insisting they were "just friends."
But as life has a funny way of doing, things changed. Once they were both settled into their careers, Alex in Orlando and Douglas in Nashville, they reconnected on a different level. The friendship that had always come so easily turned into something deeper. Alex finally saw what had been right in front of her all along, and the rest fell into place effortlessly.
In 2024, they began dating almost 10 years to-the-date after that first meeting. A year later, Douglas got down on one knee, and now here we are, ready to start the next chapter of a story ten years in the making.
(Happily ever after included, of course.)
