The actual Indian wedding ceremony is a grand, colorful event, rich with traditional rituals and customs, often held under a beautifully decorated canopy called a mandap. The bride and groom, adorned in ornate and vibrant attire, participate in a series of symbolic rites, such as the exchange of garlands (Jaimala), circling a sacred fire (Phere), and the seven steps (Saptapadi), signifying their vows and the bonding of their union.
After the wedding ceremony, the celebration continues with a cocktail hour, followed by dinner, and culminates in a reception.
