Our Story

Change of Plan

Let's try this again! We both thought it was best for the safety of our friends and family to push back the wedding a year to November 6, 2021.

It was a difficult decision, but one that we know will work out in the long run. At this point, we've been together for over 7 years, so down the road it won't matter whether our big and formal wedding was in 2020 or 2021. We love each other and that's all that really matters right? It just means that 2021 will be an even better party!

The two of us are having a private ceremony in 2020 on our original wedding date because we don't want to wait another year to get legally married! So, next year will be a one year anniversary wedding where we will renew our vows in front of everyone and then party at the reception. We're calling it an "I Redo!" I'm sure you're thinking "well that's not normal." You know what else is not normal? The entire year that is 2020!

We are looking forward to gathering in 2021 where we can hug and dance with everyone and have an amazing time.

We love each and every one of you and can't wait to see you all on November 6, 2021!

How We Met

Picture of How We Met

April 19th, 2013. We were juniors in high school. Abby Hanson invited me (Nick) to go to dinner with her and her best friend named Alex. After dinner, I literally texted Abby: "Your friend Alex is an A+"

Over 7 years later, that same girl is still an A+ and she also happens to be my beautiful future wife. After being friends for almost a year, we started dating on March 6th, 2014 when we were seniors in high school. Our first date was a Grizzlies game (duh), our first kiss was at my 18th birthday party, and our first of many movies we saw in theaters was Man of Steel (yeah we are nerds and proud).

Through our adventures at Universal, Disney World, Lord of the Rings marathons, multiple movie and tv show trivia wins, Alex has been my best friend in the whole world and always will be.

The Proposal

On October 8, 2019, after 5 and a half years of dating, I asked Alex if she wanted to go take some professional fall pictures of us after work. Nothing suspicious about that right? My genius future wife knew something was up. As we are getting in the elevator, she gives me a hug and very obviously gives me a pat down of all my pockets, on the hunt for that famed ring box. I asked her what she was doing even though both of us knew what she had in mind. Thank Goodness my brother-in-law advised me that he hid the ring in his sock, or that cunning Hnedak girl would have found that precious ring.

Fast forward an hour later and Alex and I are standing right in front of the famous Memphis sign on Mud Island. I ask our photographer Austin to just take headshots of each of us. I go first, and then when it is Alex's turn I stand behind her and act like I'm tying my shoe. Obviously I wasn't actually tying my shoe I was trying to get the ring out of my sock without looking like a doofus. Alex turns around and sees me on one knee. After about 60 seconds of "IS THIS REAL" and "OMG" she finally said yes. By far the best yes I've ever heard in my life.
