Our Mushy Gushy Love Story

Alex and Emma met while attending their college ministry group, The Salt Company. They fell in love while they both were on the staff team at their church, and the rest is history.

Let’s fill in some of the gaps…

Alex and Emma met officially at Camp Henry in September of 2021, on a fall retreat trip with The Salt Company. Although they did not exchange many words upon their first encounter, Alex fell for her. The two of them remained friends for years, always feeling what felt like a spark for each other, but never acting on it. Of course, both of them dreamt of being married someday, so they searched for that special someone, but never found them. Perhaps because God had other plans for the two of them. One fall day during a conversation with her mom about boys (yes, girls and their moms talk about boys. Sorry to break the news to all the guys out there, you have been talked about with her mom), Emma was voicing her relationship frustrations. It was during this “boy talk” with her mom that sparked Emma’s famous last words…“Mom, I just want a guy who is going to make me happy and laugh forever. Like, my friend Alex. I just want a guy like Alex.” Then all of a sudden, things seemed to fall into place. In the late fall of 2023, Alex and Emma suddenly began connecting with each other more and more through group activities with friends and church coworkers. Alex says that it was during this time that he knew he wanted to marry Emma. In December of 2023, Alex had set out to ask Emma out on a date. However, he questioned the timing. He decided to seek advice from Emma’s best friend, also named Emma. She advised him to ask Emma on a date after she got home from her winter break vacation. So naturally, Alex incessantly texted her while on her trip and asked her the day after she got back. Alex asked Emma out on their first date on a Thursday, they went out on Friday, and by that Saturday they knew it was right, so Alex asked Emma to be his girlfriend. They knew that the Lord had brought them together in perfect timing. On August 23, 2024, Alex proposed to Emma at Fenner Nature Center in Okemos, and they could not be more thrilled to spend the rest of their life together.
