Alex and Mitch met through a mutual friend in May of 2022. They began talking over text messages. Just when the conversation was really picking up, she ghosted (stopped talking to) him. After unexpectedly needing her appendix removed and a “short” period of time, she finally texted him back. Mitch was already love-struck and was relieved when he heard from her again. They planned to meet for their first date when Mitch had to cancel at the last minute. Luckily it was for a good cause - Mitch is a volunteer firefighter and had a large fire call. They rescheduled and were finally able to meet in person. They had their first date at Puffs, a local bar. From there they went on golf dates, out to dinner and got to know each other better.

Mitch told Alex he loved her for the first time, while camping out, watching the Iowa/Iowa State game (Cyclones won). After spending the holidays with both their families, Alex told Mitch she loved him at Christmas.

Mitch proposed on October 28, 2023. They were planning to go to Mitch’s house to watch football. Alex arrived at his house to a table with a large present waiting in the garage. After a short scavenger hunt to a few special places from their relationship, she found Mitch waiting on one knee. They were able to celebrate that night with both of their families making the trip to Storm Lake.
