Josie’s Point of View:

In the spring of 2024, I was coaching and directing a volleyball league. I got to work with a few other coaches, one of them being my best friend, Taylor Meadows. Taylor is the head coach for Portland High School volleyball while I coach for the middle school; we work together A LOT. Anyway, one day Taylor mentioned Alex’s name. I had known Alex for a long time, but I was petrified since he was a little older than me and told her I wasn’t interested. She continued to nag me about Alex and told me he was so fun and the sweetest person. She was also pushing for it because Alex is her brother-in-law, and she wanted me to be in the family. I ignored her for a total of two weeks about this conversation, until she asked me to go to her in-laws house for Sunday, family dinner. Of course I told her no, but then instantly regretted it because I have FOMO (fear of missing out). I decided to go, but tried to lay low. Well if you know my personality, laying low is not really an option. Alex and I hit it off instantly. Knowing both of our 12 year old personalities, we got these remote control bumper cars and played with them forever. From then on, I kept showing up in his school classroom to hang out and talk. Since then we have had nothing but the best of times. We have attended multiple volleyball and basketball events, taken family trips, survived the holidays, turned his bachelor pad into an actual home, and become closer to one another through this entire process. We officially started dating on June 8th of 2023, and will be married on June 8th of 2024. Not only have I found my future husband, but I found my best friend.
