We were introduced to each other by my cousins Kandace and Crystal.

Alex would say we met at my cousin Kandace’s birthday party in August 2005 – one where I hid in the car reading a book the whole time and he didn’t exist.

I would say we met at Alex’s parents house in January of 2006. I was visiting my cousin Crystal over the holiday season. She was part of a youth group with Alex, and I joined in one night.

Interpret it as you will, this is where it all began…

Alex lived in Brantford, I lived in Woodstock. Remember good ol’ MSN? We used that, emails, and phone calls to communicate. We started dating, quickly realizing 6 months in that we would never see each other as we didn’t drive or own our own car. We mutually decided to stay best friends and date within our own school/town. We still talked ALL THE TIME and were the best of friends.

Fast forward to 2009, I am in grade 12, Alex is in his leap year. We couldn’t keep each other off our minds, we thought we would explore the feelings in a romantic way.

Jump to 2013/2014, Alex finishing college and me starting college, we couldn’t see us moving in together any time soon. It was taking a toll, so we decided to go back to being friends. During this time, we grew as individuals. Like before we remained friends, visited each other, talked all the time. Just no labels attached and free to date other people.

Early 2016 Alex and I meet up in snowy downtown Toronto for a visit and the rest is history! Third time’s a charm – we start seeing each other again. We decided to make our relationship distance free and in June of 2016, I moved in with Alex and will never look back.

Alex proposed to me in September of 2022 and of course I said YES!

We have a long history, but we wouldn’t change it for the world. No matter our relationship status, we spent our formative years in each other's hearts. We grew as individuals and as a couple. We have led our own journeys, but ultimately arrived at the same destination – Marriage.
