FLYING IN
Guests should fly into JFK or Long Island/Islip MacArthur (ISP). JFK is approximately an hour away from South Setauket. ISP is approximately 20 minutes from South Setauket.
JFK AIRPORT TRAIN FROM JFK TO LIRR (JAMAICA STATION)
The AirTrain stops at all JFK terminals on a 24/7 basis, with routes every 7 minutes during peak hours and every 15 minutes when the airport’s passenger traffic is low. The traveling time from JFK terminals to Jamaica Station, where you can catch the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) is around 15 minutes. Cost: $8--new-york-jfk-airport.com/transportation/train
LIRR FROM JAMAICA OR PENN STATION
Take the Long Island Railroad to Ronkonkoma (fastest) or Stony Brook or Port Jefferson (closest)--new.mta.info/schedules
TAXI FROM LIRR
There are taxis at Ronkonkoma (Village Taxi: (631) 588-1055) and Stony Brook. It's a 15-minute drive from Ronkonkoma and a 10-minute drive from Stony Brook or Port Jefferson to the ceremony.
CAR RENTAL
Cars can be rented at MacArthur Airport (ISP) in Ronkonkoma. If you take the LIRR to Ronkonkoma Station, you can get a very quick taxi to the car rental center.
HOTELS
Hotels this time of year and in this area are rather pricey, so we chose a middle-of-the-road, 3-star hotel that is in close proximity to the venue for our room block. We have also reserved a group party house with a pool and hot tub. Please see the info for both below. **IF YOU WISH TO BOOK A ROOM AT THE HOTEL, YOU MUST DO SO BEFORE JUNE 18.** Unreserved rooms will be released to the public at that time. Rooms at the party house are first come, first served, so please let us know if you want a room ASAP. If cost is a big consideration in your plans, don't hesitate to let us know--we can certainly help subsidize your housing if it helps convert your maybe into a yes!
Holiday Inn Express Stony Brook
Rooms feature refrigerators, microwaves, and LED televisions. Satellite programming and iPod docking stations are provided for your entertainment, and complimentary wireless Internet access keeps you connected. There is an indoor pool, a 24-hour gym, and a complementary breakfast buffet. The property has connecting/adjoining rooms, which are subject to availability and can be requested by contacting the property using the number on the booking confirmation. There is a snack bar/deli in the lobby. Parking is free. Reservations for this rate must be made by June 19 and can be canceled up to 24 hours before your stay.
Party House in Ridge, NY
Large backyard with grill, fire pit, swimming pool and Jacuzzi hot tub. Our home is at the very end of the road. No neighbors to the right nor left. Wooded area behind... Near the beach, shopping outlets, hiking trails, Aquarium, carnival rides, Childrens zoo and wildlife park, sky diving, wine vineyard tours, Historical Park, GREAT restaurants and a few local beer breweries! So much to do, OR just relax and enjoy our yard & pool/hot tub!
The space
The home has four bedrooms and two full baths upstairs and an office/bedroom set up on the first floor next to a half bath. Warm, modern touches throughout allow for guests to truly relax and enjoy family time. On the 1st floor there is a formal living room and dining room upon entry. A family room next to the kitchen allows for fun meals and a large sliding glass door opens out to the pool. Lounging and dining outdoor furniture allow for all your time to be spent outdoors. Feel free to use the firewood provided to start an evening bonfire for making Smores.
