So it all started on a weekend trip up north to our friend’s cabin...

Alex and I had meet through mutual friends but never really got to know each other. As we spent the weekend off-roading, playing games & sitting around the campfire, I was pleasantly surprised at well we clicked. We both had the same type of humor and the conversation flowed naturally. Although I like to think I'm funny, it was nice meeting someone who laughed at my jokes (besides me).

It was purely platonic at first - I was not wanting a relationship at the time and would always tell people “I am not dating until I’m 25”. Welp, God had a different plan & thank goodness I chose to follow His over my own.

After the trip, we continued to hang out, whether in groups, pairs or just us. I knew I wanted to be with someone who could make me laugh but to have a relationship with constant witty banter and inside jokes like we had was rare.

Despite the constant denial of my feelings, I always wanted to be around him. The turning point for me was when I left for a week to help my friend move home from California. I spent just about the entire trip in a therapy session with all of my friend's roommates (who I just met by the way) dissecting every little thing about our relationship & trying to figure out if I liked him.

The day we had to drove back to AZ just happened to be his birthday. So as any rational person would do, I made my friend leave at the crack of dawn and drive me straight to see him. We were both so happy to see each other and that is when we knew that we both had feelings for one other.

Soon after, we decided to "casually" date but wanted to kept things pretty low key. That did not go as planned because here we are, 3 years later about to get married!
