Alex & Pierce

The Story

Pierce and Alex first met in Fall 2011 when Alex transferred to Southwestern. Pierce did not think much about Alex initially outside of agreeing with the general consensus amongst his fraternity brothers that she was, "hot." Alex likewise did not think too much about Pierce, outside of agreeing with the general consensus amongst her sorority sisters that he was, "loud." It went on that way for some time until late in the Spring 2013 semester. As fate would have it, Pierce was taking a May semester painting class and then working for a construction company in Georgetown and Alex was working at a clothing boutique on the square. Pierce developed an interest in fashion during this time and they got to know each other better over that summer, but it was not until the beginning of Fall 2013 that they became "official." There were ups and downs, but through it all their relationship only grew stronger.

In the Spring of 2014, Pierce decided that he was very afraid of the real world and began a desperate search to extend his education. He settled on law school and took the LSAT in February. To everyones' amazement, he was accepted by Baylor Law School. At the same time Alex was honing her teaching skills in charter schools around the area. Pierce graduated in May but Alex still had one more year. No matter though, they made long-distance seem like one of Ms. Rodriguez's second-grade math assignments, which Pierce actually considers pretty hard, but you get the picture.

In March of 2015, Pierce's mother died of cancer. Alex stayed by his side through the whole ordeal. Her devotion and selflessness proved to Pierce what he had suspected for a while, that Alex was the person he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.

In July of 2015 Alex moved to Waco to become a teacher at Bell's Hill Elementary School. She brought her hamster, Jensen. The animate ball of fur and Pierce became great friends.

In December of 2015, Pierce told his family about his plan to propose to Alex during their ski trip to Crested Butte, Colorado. Every single person he told was delighted. He also worked up the courage to ask Alex's parents, Tony and Becky, who also seemed thrilled at the prospect. Pierce had a grand scheme to propose at the top of the mountain. However, when confronted with the reality of ski areas, specifically the human density, he thought better of it. On New Year's Eve after returning from a ski session, Pierce waited for Alex to turn her back, reached into his pocket, pulled out the ring, and got down on one knee. Alex turned around and seemed genuinely surprised, although you can ask her about that.

So that's about where we are. Alex is patiently (sort of) biding her time in Waco while Pierce finishes law school. Pierce is doing the same. Luckily they both stay very busy and the time passes quickly. It is hard to believe that they have come to this station in life, but they are eagerly awaiting the rest of their lives together.

Meet the Officiant

Frank Pagliaro, the New Shepherd

Pierce's best friend from boarding school, Frank Pagliaro has graciously agreed to marry Alex and Pierce. He is well-spoken and eloquent when the need arises, but watch out for him at the reception.
