How awesome will this wedding be?

Super awesome! At least, we hope so! Some tips to ensure you have an awesome time: (1.) If you are coming to Colorado for this event from out of state (or country), book any required transportation and accommodations you desire early. Prices for plane tickets, lodging, and rental transportation are likely to rise as the event date nears. (2.) Wear something nice, but something that you will be comfortable wearing for the duration of the event (unless you plan to change into less formal clothing prior to the reception but after the ceremony). We know from experience that wearing 9-inch-tall high heels or a heavy three-piece suit can quickly detract from the fun of the festivities. (3.) Given Sara's occupation, we would be remiss not to add this tip. This is not to be paternalistic, but to ensure that you have a kick-ass time at our wedding! We want all of our guests to thoroughly enjoy themselves. So in that vein, here is a fun fact: it has quite recently been established to be a MYTH that 1 alcoholic beverage consumed at high altitudes is equal to 2 drinks consumed at sea level (what excuse will the aviation industry use to serve us less alcoholic drinks now?!?!). That being said, alcohol can still have SOME undesirable effects on those not used to spending a lot of time at the high altitudes characteristic of Steamboat Springs. Recent and reliable studies have shown that alcohol, when consumed at altitude, does not affect the body itself (including BAC) any differently than it would at sea level. This series of highly externally valid studies (with equally robust findings) observed inebriated people at "higher" altitudes and below sea level. The findings of these studies supported the hypothesis that there is NO significant correlation between elevation and alcohol POTENCY. But, potency is only potency. These studies do still support the notion that drinking alcohol at high altitudes does have the potential to exaggerate and enhance the dehydration many experience when they increase their elevation. This can (and likely will) affect a person's physical and cognitive well-being, which may cause them to be unable to safely operate a vehicle, or to not have as good of a time as they could have at an otherwise amazingly fun wedding! We will spare you the ins and outs of the science related to this topic (but if you are interested, ask Sara at the wedding, she would love nothing more than to bore you for hours on end with ALL the scientific details). So, the moral of Sara's long story is: know your limits, drink lots of water (we will ensure plenty is available), and ensure that if you are driving after the reception, you do so safely. We want ALL of our guests to come and go in one piece, with no additional misdemeanors or felonies added to their (what we presume to be) spotless records.

Are children welcome at this Wedding?

Yes, in fact, our two Rugrats will be there too! We welcome you to bring your children. We are not fans of the "no-kids-wedding" trend, and fully welcome any and all children of invited guests (and their Plus Ones where applicable) to attend this wedding. All portions of this event will be 100% family/child-friendly. As we all likely remember from our own youths, weddings can be quite boring for children. As such, toys, crafts, games, child-friendly drinks and snacks, and other forms of entertainment will be provided for all attending children of all ages. We do, however, ask that all parents of children who will be present at the wedding attend to their own children as needed, as this event will unfortunately not include any formal on-site childcare services.

How should I dress?

Pretty nice. It's a wedding, after all. Attire is listed in the invitations as formal. However, please do dress to suit your comfort needs, and do not feel obligated to purchase any formalwear solely for this occasion (unless you are a member of the wedding party, in which case you will be informed well ahead of time of any additional dress requirements that apply to you & your role in this wedding).

What is the address of the wedding venue, and will this wedding take place across multiple locations?

This all-in-one wedding will take place under only one (very large) roof. The ceremony, reception, and all other mingling will take place at the same 10-bedroom mansion nestled in the scenic, mountainous hills of Steamboat Springs. The address to this amazing house that is beautiful enough to double as a wedding venue is as follows: SKY VALLEY CHATEAU, 33790 SKY VALLEY DRIVE, STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO, 80487. Guests will not be required to attend any other locations on the wedding day, and are free to come and go as they please after the reception has started.

Can I do this Shindig all in one day without staying overnight in Steamboat? My bed in Denver will be calling my name!

While, for those local to Colorado, it is theoretically possible to drive ~4 hours to the wedding, attend the ceremony and reception, and then drive ~4 hours back home all in one day, WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COURSE OF ACTION TO ANY OF OUR BELOVED GUESTS FOR ANY REASON. Come on, we have given you plenty of notice, you can surely arrange an extra day off at work, or convince your spouse who wishes not to attend that they will survive a night without you. It might sound tempting to some people to not have to stay in Steamboat Springs overnight given the rigamarole that unavoidably accompanies a one or two night outing, especially if you live only a few hours away, but how tempting does it sound to attend a whole ass wedding without consuming a drop of alcohol? How tempting does it sound to drive ~4 hours back down mountainous roads in the dark after an entire day of socializing and celebrating nuptials, having made the same drive just earlier that day? Not very tempting, in our view. Moreover, we do simply expect that many, if not most, guests will choose to partake in alcohol consumption. So, regardless of whether you plan on drinking or not, regardless of whether it is possible for you to drive home or not, please do us the favor of staying overnight in Steamboat Springs on the night of the 4th, if not the 3rd and 4th. If lodging is an issue, please get in touch with us. If there is any other obstacle we can help you circumnavigate, please get in touch with us. But please do not attempt to do this wedding all in one day - it is intended to be a destination-like wedding.

Can I bring friends, family, or other additional people with me to your event?

We have provided all guests who we anticipate bringing a plus one to the wedding a plus one invitation. If you are such a guest who needs or wishes to bring a plus one but did not receive a plus one invitation, please get in touch with us ASAP and we will accommodate you to the best of our ability. However, given our selected venue's more intimate setting, and given that we will be ordering catering services per capita based on how many RSVPs we receive, resources will be limited by these parameters. For these reasons, we cannot accommodate any guests who have not themselves received an invitation, are not the child of a guest who received an invitation, or are not attending as a recorded plus one for an invited guest. If this poses a challenge to any of our dearly invited guests, please contact us at your soonest convenience to address your needs.

Can I bring my pet(s) to this event?

Unfortunately, due to restrictions set forth by the wedding venue, we cannot accommodate any pets of any kind at this wedding. Please schedule care for your pets for the duration of this event ahead of time. If you are an invited guest (or the plus one of an invited guest) and require the assistance of a service animal, please reach out to us ASAP so that we can accommodate your needs as best we can. No animals other than those trained specifically to aid an individual with a disability will be permitted on premises.

Will I need to bring funds to pay for food or alcohol during the event?

During the ceremony and reception, all food and alcohol will be covered and provided by Alex and Sara to all of our beloved guests, and to any plus one that they have reported they will be bringing during the RSVP process. However, guests will be responsible for any food or drink they wish to purchase outside of these times. Additionally, we cannot guarantee food or drink to anyone who has not completed the RSVP process. Therefore, please RSVP as early as possible and provide all necessary details to ensure that you, your children, and/or your plus one will be properly accounted for in regard to food and drink.
