According to the website With These Rings, "A ring warming is when you give your loved ones the opportunity to hold and imbue your wedding bands with a wish, blessing or prayer for your marriage. By the time your rings make it on to your fingers they will be saturated with the love of your friends and family."
Though we are not having a religious ceremony, we want everyone, with whatever they may believe, to impart good wishes on our marriage. Our ceremony though - will be an absolute party. We want everyone in Ohio to celebrate our pending nuptials with food, drinks, and games!
Weddings are hard to plan. Point blank. We have so much love and support in our lives and wanted to include everyone in a meaningful way. Just because you may be invited to one event or another does not mean that we do not care about you, we just had to make harder decisions based on locations and funding. On your save-the-dates and invitations, we are distinguishing which of the events that we hope you come attend!
Ring Warming Ceremony - this is a celebration for Alex and Kyra's friends, coworkers, and chosen family in Ohio and closer to Ohio. See above about the ring-warming intention, but this is where we invite folks to come eat, drink, and play hilarious wedding games. Attire is semi-formal.
Boston Wedding - this is our wedding day with just family and bridal parties. It is intentionally small due to its further location. Kyra went to undergrad in Massachusetts and fell in love with Boston. We wanted to be cognizant that not everyone could make it to this location, so we kept the guest list at a minimum to make the day run smoother. (Out-of-state weddings are hard!) Attire: formal.
