Sara's POV:
Alex and I met during our Fall Semester, Sophomore year, at the Phi Delta Theta house before a sorority/fraternity swap. As we walked down the stairs of the frat house together, he introduced himself to me as "Scruggs." To which I replied, "Like the tractor store?" And the rest was history! But in all seriousness, I felt things were different with Alex from the get-go. He was so sweet, and he never knew a stranger. We started dating shortly after Christmas break that following semester, and the rest of our college days were full of date parties, SEC football games, NOLA formals, and so much more. Alex fit right in with my family and friends, and that's when I really knew that he was the one for me. After graduating from college and starting our first "adult" jobs, I guess you could say things got even more serious when we bought a house together in May of 2022!
Shortly after buying the house, we took a trip to New Orleans for Alex's birthday in August. Not thinking anything of it, I booked a photographer in NOLA to take some couple pictures of us since we hadn't had any pictures taken together since before 2020. When Alex asked for the photographer's email to get the invoice, I thought nothing of it! Little did I know that he was telling the photographer about his plans to propose. Of course, I said yes, and now we are planning a wedding! I am so thankful that Alex is by my side each day. He is calm and steady, never shying away from anything. We have settled in nicely to "adult life" and I find myself falling more-and-more in love with Alex every single day. He is the calm to my storm, the laugh to my joke and the palm tree to my beach. I am so excited to be his wife! I mean, come on, Sara Scruggs? It was written in the stars!!
Alex's POV:
The first time I met Sara I was playing guitar hero listening to hard rock music at full blast in my fraternity house. Great first impression right? Well she made one on me. The same night after the event, I went home and told everyone how I met my wife. There couldn't have been anything more true.
I proposed to Sara in our most sentimental place, New Orleans, LA. On the banks of the Mississippi River in the French Quarter was where we first exchanged our first I love you's and the same place I asked her if I could tell her that for the rest of our lives.
Sara has brought out the best in me and helped shaped me to be the man I am today. Her kind smile, nurturing words, and beauty inside and out make every day a day worth living. September 23rd, 2023 cant get here soon enough. I love you, Sara!
