Alex and Sophie met in West Virginia. Sophie was attending PA school at the University of Charleston and Alex was just starting his career after finishing his Masters degree in New York City. They met in the most romantic way possible; through a dating app. Let’s just say that West Virginia isn’t the most popular destination for young love. Their first date was at a local pizzeria in Charleston where they stayed for four hours! And despite Alex eating his pizza with a knife and fork and Sophie revealing that her favorite food and drink were Taco Bell and Busch Light, a second date was immediately planned. Safe to say there was already something special between them. A month and a half later, Alex made the trip to Wisconsin to meet Sophie’s family and friends. Christmas with the family already, things were moving fast.
A month later, Sophie unfortunately broke her wrist while on a skiing trip with Alex and their friends. The first test of the relationship after only two months of knowing each other. But Alex would stop by every day over the course of the next few months to help take care of her. Sophie knew then that Alex would always be there for her no matter the circumstances.
After that, they continued to grow as a couple and went on many adventures together; exploring West Virginia’s natural beauty, hiking in the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia, a thirteen-hour road trip to Florida, and visiting various other surrounding states including Ohio, Kentucky, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
Sophie and Alex started a new chapter in their relationship when they moved to Denver, Colorado in September of 2021. Shortly after the move, an adorable Siberian husky was added to their little family. Named after one of Sophie and Alex’s favorite artists (Stevie Nicks), Stevie has brought Sophie and Alex even closer together. Her outgoing nature and never-ending energy has allowed Sophie and Alex to share their love for the outdoors more so than ever before.
Over the years, Sophie and Alex have celebrated many exciting moments together, with the best one being when Alex proposed over Labor Day weekend of 2022. The proposal took place at the summit of their fourth hiked 14,000 ft peak, Huron Peak. Both sets of parents along with Alex’s brother, Matthew, were on hand to join the celebrations at dinner later that evening.
Other special moments they’ve experienced together were Alex becoming an official US citizen in September of 2020, Sophie graduating and becoming a PA in April of 2021, and the birth of two nephews and two nieces.
