The YMCA Camp of Maine is located on 200 beautiful acres of pine tree forests, meadows and fresh water ponds. It sits on the shores of Lake Cobbosseecontee, the same lake that Alex grew up on and where his parents continue to live.
Alex went to the YMCA Camp as a kid, as did his sister Sami, his dad Dan, his cousins, aunts and uncles, and his grandfather!
The camp was founded in 1915. It was a place where boys could have an experience away from growing cities and learn how to cut hay, work with wood, swim, boat, and live in social settings.
Boys were sent to help local farms to cut and put-up hay, pick apples, and tend to livestock during WWII. The coming of 1974 welcomed girls to YCamp.
