The story of their meeting is a classic tale. Many of you know that Ashley and Alex began dating while she was still in high school. Yes, Alex was a creeper. He began creeping on Ashley during her first visit at Xavier University.
Twas late at night and Alex had one too many Keystones with his buddies. While stumbling back to campus with buddy Mark Elwell, Alex noticed a young, stone-cold fox. That fox happened to be innocent Ashley Wanninger. "COLERAIN" Alex yelled. What a first line...
Ashley stopped and thought, "who is this intoxicated yet Prince Charming looking fella?" Obviously, it was Alex. Although a blur, we can only assume that Alex used some clever pickup lines too woo Ashley Wanninger that night.
After one month and a lot of persuading Ashley and Alex went on their first date. Only fitting, it was a COLERAIN football game, a movie, and Steak and Shake. The rest is history!
Twas the Night Before Christmas in the big city.
Lots of traffic and lights, yet it was so pretty.
Ashley claimed she did not know a thing.
Could this night be, when she gets her ring?
This little trip began on December the twenty-third.
When Ashley was woken at 2 AM by Alex.. What a turd!
"Get out of bed," Alex shouted,
"You have an hour to pack!"...... Ashley pouted.
In the car up to Dayton we went.
Boarded the plane and we were already spent.
A quick nap and Detroit was on the horizon.
Once we landed, we texted our parents, thanks to Verizon.
After a 2-hour delay, New York City was our next stop.
Alex was ready for a drink, Ashley was ready to shop.
Quickly we walked to Times Square.
Lots of foreigners with Selfie Sticks were there.
Ashley is quick on her toes with the way she thinks.
She said to Alex, "Time for some drinks!"
Alex already knew this trip was going to be a winner.
After drinks, it was time for dinner.
The steak was good, the drinks were strong.
The amount of steak sauce Alex spilled on his shirt was just wrong.
Next was the Christmas show at Radio City.
Then Rockefeller Center, where the big tree was so pretty.
Despite the rain, it was a great first night.
Day two would be even better, where we took in the sights.
Just to name a few, we stopped by the 9/11 Memorial and Central Park.
Don't worry, it was day time. We did not want to be there while it was dark.
After a long day and much needed nap, we both awoke.
The time was getting close, Alex needed a Crown and Coke.
6:00 rolled around, the Uber came for our ride.
We went off to an art studio on the Upper Westside.
The studio was covered in roses while good music was playing.
"Please don't mess this up", Alex was praying.
8:00 came around, and it was time to ask.
Was Alex really up to the task?
He sure was, as he dropped to a knee.
Ashley read his painting which said, Will You Marry Me?
Of course she said yes, Alex is a winner.
Yet all he cared about, was being late to dinner.
The night was amazing, one to always remember.
We will definitely be back, next December.
Twas the night before Christmas, in the big city.
Ashley and Alex, are both so pretty.
