We believe there is something truly special about friendships that blossom into more, and that’s what happened for us. We first met as Alex sat on the Lake House futon along side Mae and Maddie, who were eager to introduce their new roomie to the boys next door. An instant friendly connection was made over her love for the Cardinals and his love for Yadier Molina. Across the next 7-8 months, a great friendship developed as their houses were in walking distance and Colby and Johnny often spent afternoons hanging out at the girls house. Many of naps were taken on their couch, even a very fake nap that fully introduced Alex to the great chaos that is being friends with the Lake House boys. It was not until the famous beach trip in May of 2020 when their group of friends ran away to quarantine from the world for a week. Slowly behind the scenes a special bond was developing over Lil Wayne, Luke Combs, and dreams of spinning around the kitchen with their future husband/wife. It was a long car ride back to GA as Alex was sure that the week had been to good to be true as boys like that don’t exist in the real world. A phone call after Alex was dropped off quickly changed that and had her running circles around the kitchen island as Colby made sure to remind her that she still owed him a dance through the kitchen. The next few months were a whirlwind of anticipation and new beginnings as Colby began physical therapy school and Alex began her job as a teacher in SC. Lots of long late night phone calls and long trips to visit one another built up to an official first date filled with wine and pasta. Alex was growing tired of Colby’s tendency to use words and phrases such as “maybe” and “one day”, when finally, on September 12, Colby made the jump to ask her to be his girlfriend. Ever since that day, their lives have been full of adventure and growth. Across the next 3 years Alex moved back to GA, Colby graduated and they just so happened to meet Mateo, a jewelry salesman at church. A few weeks later a “random” surprise trip to look at rings after Alex had a bad week lead to several secret trips to meet Mateo and discuss options. Another few weeks pass by as Colby worked hard to plan the engagement without being found out. A few failed plans to get her nails done, a bout with Covid, and one bad hot dog finally lead them to the big day in Athens with some very special people. Colby could only stomach half of his biscuits and gravy as the ring was burning a hole in his pocket. Then the moment finally came as they approached “someone’s engagement” to which it all began to sink in and Alex let out an “Are you f’ng with me?”. To which Colby resisted the urge to hit her with one final “maybe”, instead getting on one knee and asking her to be his forever. Now, here they sit on the couch in Alexs apartment trying to figure the best way to let you all in on their story while laughing about how this truly all started with a beach trip with friends and a bottle of Tito’s.
