Our Wedding

Their Story

The couple met in February 2009 through their mutual friends, Katie and Cody. At the time, Alexa was in her second year at the University of New Brunswick and Simon was working in Halifax, Nova Scotia. After three years of long distance calls, weekend bus trips, and many sleepless nights, the couple finally moved home full time.

The Beginning

In October 2012, the bride and groom bought their first home in Amherst and could not have been happier to be settling down in the place they both call home. Since the purchase of their home, they adopted their beautiful fur babies, Binx and Miley. The couple is very fortunate, as many of their life long friends reside in the area. The bride and groom enjoy spending time with their family and friends, being active, and going to the cottage.

Laura who resides in Amherst with her husband Phillip, is Alexa's older sister and matron of honour. The two are very close and love spending time with one another. Alexa has always looked up to Laura and could not be more proud to have her stand beside her on the couples big day.

Cody and Simon have been best friends since childhood. This hilarious pair can lift anyone's spirits and certainly make you laugh. Cody and Simon are very close and share many of the same hobbies and interests. The bride and groom are so honoured to have Cody in their lives and are so happy to have he and Katie by their sides on their wedding day.

Matt, who resides in Amherst with his girlfriend Megan and son Abel, has been one of Simons best friends since early childhood. Growing up on the same street made it easy for the two to bond and become great friends.  Together, the boys have played numerous sports, have gone on many fishing trips with their dads, and have enjoyed outdoor adventures together. The bride and groom are so happy to celebrate their big day with Matt by their side.

Alexa and Katie met in grade ten when the Coleman's made the move to Amherst. The two were introduced by Katie's younger sister, Kelli, who said, "this is my sister Katie, you guys are going to be best friends". They have been ever since. Katie has returned to Amherst and lives with her boyfriend, Cody (Best Man). The couples enjoy spending time together and look forward to a lifetime of memories.

Brittney and Alexa have been best friends since high school. Together, they have played on many sports teams, gone on trips, co-coached teams, and ran races (hoping to someday run a marathon together). Brittney and her husband Steve, have also recently returned to Amherst. The couples could not be happier and look forward to continuing their lifetime of friendships.

Ryan, who resides in the Amherst area with his girlfriend Desiree and son Merrill, has been one of Simons best friends since the boys R.B. Dickey days. Together, they have played on various hockey teams, enjoyed mountain biking, snowmobiling, golfing, have had many adventures on the water, and some serious games of pool volleyball. The bride and groom are so thankful to have Ryan and his family in their lives and look further to many more memories.

Marissa and Alexa have been great friends since high school. The two have played many sports together and share countless  memories. Marissa currently lives in Alberta, however, the girls remain very close. Whenever they are reunited, it is as though they are fourteen again and not a thing has changed. The bride is very lucky to have this special lady in her life.

Jamie and Simon have been best friends since the good old R.B Dickey days. The two have played many sports together and share countless memories. Jamie currently lives in Alberta, however, the boys remain very close. The couple could not be happier that Jamie will be coming home to share their special day.

Joshua (Joshy) is Alexa's younger brother. The two have been extremely close their entire lives and have often been mistaken as twins, as the two rarely left each other sides growing up. Josh currently resides in Halifax with his beautiful girlfriend Leslie and their daughter, Adelynn Rose. Josh and Simon have become very close over the last seven years and can't wait to officially become brothers.

Nathaniel and Simon have been great friends since high school. Nate currently resides in Toronto, however, the two remain great friends and love spending time with one another. The boys love listening to music, working out, motivating one another, and of course, "lookin' fresh". Alexa and Simon are very happy that Nathaniel will be making the trip home to share their big day.

Phil, new brother to both the bride and groom, married Laura in the summer of 2015. Phil is a perfect addition to the Coleman family; providing humour, kindness, and strength. The couple is extremely honoured to have Phil be part of their wedding day. Phil, Simon, and Josh all have one thing in common - they grew up with sisters. They are now thrilled to have one thing they've always wanted - brothers.

There are several different accommodations available at Pictou Lodge Resort. There are motel rooms, small, medium, and large cottages. View the website for online tours and images. The event coordinator's name is Ashdenne MacLeod, please call or email her directly to book your rooms under the Coleman/Gaudet wedding <a href="tel:(902)%20485-5940" value="+19024855940" target="_blank">(902-485-5940</a> or <a href="mailto:ashdenne@pictoulodge.com" target="_blank">ashdenne@pictoulodge.com</a>). Because it is currently the off season, she is in and out of the office but always has access to email and will return voicemails promptly. Cottages and rooms are blocked off for the Coleman/ Gaudet wedding until June 1,2017.

The Wedding Ceremony will be held at 4:00 on the waterfront overlooking the beautiful Northumberland Straight. Following the ceremony, there will be a cocktail hour in the main lodge and balcony. We request that guests return to the Grand Ball room (main lodge) for 6:00.

The Holiday Inn Express is located approximately 25 kms from Pictou Lodge Resort. The hotel offers a Wedding Rate of $136 for a standard room (2 queen beds OR 1 King bed) and a wedding rate of $146 for an executive king suite (1 king bed and pull out sofa). A shuttle has been arranged and will be parked outside the reception all evening. The shuttle will continue to make rounds until everyone is where they need to be, free of charge.

The Dance will be held in the Grand Ball Room of the Resort, located in the main lodge following the meal and speeches. We invite you to join us for the Dance, beginning at 9:00. Although the venue does not allow us to have many guests for the meal, we would love to have you join us for the weekend and partake in an evening of dancing and celebrating. If you do choose to come for the weekend, you are more than welcome to witness the outdoor wedding ceremony at 4:00, as there is a standing area in the back.
