Alexa and Darren first met back in 2019 working at Indeed in NYC. Alexa had been working at Indeed for a little over a year when Darren started. So on his first day of work, she instantly noticed him, admiring how he dressed and carried himself. Little did Alexa know that Darren had also been admiring her. Coincidentally, their desks were directly across from one another, so it was inevitable. Not only did Darren make it his mission to find out every detail he could about her, including that her family conveniently relocated to Long Island, but he tried making small talk, ate his lunch close to where she did, and attempted to ask her out for 3 months straight. Alexa would have been lying if she said she wasn’t also interested, although she did forget his name a time or two. As a matter of fact, on his first week of work, she turned to her coworkers jokingly and said “I’m not sure who that man is, but I’m letting you all know now right now that I’m going to date him”. After a few months of playing hard to get, finally the stars aligned on October 18th. I guess you can say it was worth the wait considering Darren’s usual bed time was 8:00 pm and he stayed out until 3:00 AM that night. Typically when a guy leaves the next day before the sun comes up it’s a bad sign, but if you know Darren, that was just his typical anxiety of hating the city, not sleeping in his own bed, having a fear of the train, and having his sisters baby shower bright and early that next day.

They spent plenty of time in the city over those first few months, enjoying cupcakes and bread pudding from Magnolia, going out to dinner and talking over steak, attending Santa-con, and just having fun. That was until the world was quickly turned upside down when COVID hit in 2020. Alexa escaped her apartment in the city and went to stay with her mom and step-father on Long Island, just 15 minutes away from where Darren and his family lived. What they expected to be the case for a few short weeks, ended up being a permanent situation, leaving Manhattan for good. After spending nearly every single day together for a year, Alexa and Darren soon realized there was another surprise in store for them… they were expecting! Fast forward to May 3rd, 2021, they gave birth to their daughter Avalena, and settled down in their newly purchased home in West Islip, NY.
