Alexa and Andrew’s story began quietly in late 2019, two lives crossing paths without either knowing the love that would bloom just a few years later. It was the Fall of 2023 when everything changed. Alexa was participating in a women’s corporate sports fundraiser, and Andrew happened to be there, volunteering. Amidst the energy and laughter of the day, Alexa noticed him. Something about Andrew lingered in her mind, and later that weekend, she casually mentioned to her friends that she had spotted Andrew Richards at the event. What she didn’t know was that her friends knew Andrew well—from childhood sports teams and school hallways. One of them, sensing something special, decided to play cupid. A quiet message was passed along to Andrew, planting a subtle seed. Weeks passed. Then, with a little nudge from a Mel Robbins Instagram post, Andrew reached out. On October 4th, 2023, Alexa and Andrew went on their first date at La Bodega in Kansas City. That night was electric. The kind of night where time slows, laughter comes easy, and conversation flows like it’s always been there. Andrew even called his friend Brad afterward and said, “What’s this girl’s deal? How is she this cool?” It wasn’t long before their hearts chose each other. They were officially a couple just a few dates later. As the months passed, their bond deepened. They shared their love for exploring Kansas City's culinary scene—always chasing the next perfect cocktail or cozy dinner spot. And Alexa, with grace and good humor, welcomed Andrew’s Golden Retriever, Lyla, into her life—along with all the golden fur that came with her. Then came August 2024. Andrew underwent knee surgery, facing weeks on crutches. Where others might have pulled away, Alexa leaned in. She became his rock—caring for him, encouraging him, feeding him homemade meals that opened his palate and warmed his soul. She didn’t just help him heal physically—she lifted him emotionally, too. That season of vulnerability made their connection stronger, deeper, and more real than ever before. In the fall of that same year, Alexa took a deeply personal step. She began the journey of joining the Catholic Church, a path inspired by years of quiet interest and a newfound desire to fully embrace the faith. Together, she and Andrew became parishioners at Visitation Catholic Church—the place they now dream of one day exchanging vows. And then came Easter weekend—April 20th, 2025. With the help of Alexa’s sisters, Kameron, Reese, and Neely, Andrew planned a proposal at Loose Park in South Plaza. Beneath the budding trees and surrounded by spring’s promise, he asked Alexa to be his forever. She said yes, and in that moment, they celebrated not only their love, but the beginning of the rest of their lives together. From a chance encounter to a lifelong promise, theirs is a love story filled with laughter, loyalty, and the quiet, powerful kind of love that feels destined.
