Alexa and John met in graduate school at the University of Bridgeport in CT. Interestingly, they were raised in neighboring Massachusetts towns but did not meet until January 2018. John was flirtatious from the first moment they met, stealing Alexa’s name tag at a welcome party hosted by a friend. In March, John organized a class trip to Yankee Stadium for a Sox - Yanks game in which the group took the train down to NYC from Bridgeport. Alexa told John that she could not make the scheduled time due to a health appointment. John saw the perfect opportunity to take the train with Alexa alone in order to get to know her and work his magic. They shared vodka, a red bull and a large Italian sub on the ride.

Alexa and John built their friendship and continued to study and play intramural soccer together. It was easy for them to have fun and get along because they had a lot of common interests. John even met Alexa’s parents, he was studying in the classroom when Alexa showed them around campus. We also learned that John’s friend Brian’s mother was a friend of Alexa’s mother Maria. Maria and John’s mother Peggy also have mutual friends. John wanted to take the next step and in July, they went on a first date to Seven Seas restaurant in downtown Milford. Alexa wowed John in her light blue blouse. They became “Facebook official” October 3rd, 2018.

Ever since then, they have been inseparable. They continued to be teammates on the soccer field, study buddies in the classroom and world travelers. They visited Guatemala together for a UBPAI medical mission trip with a goal of screening patients for hypertension and diabetes. They represented UB and participated in the AAPA Challenge Bowl in Denver, CO. They survived the 2020 COVID pandemic together without killing each other.

After PA school, John and Alexa returned to Massachusetts where they both work as PAs at local hospitals. Alexa waited anxiously for an engagement ring that finally came on July 19th, 2024. The proposal took place where they first met at the University of Bridgeport. They have a fur baby named Ziggy, a 4 year old Jack Russel Terrier. They hope to buy a house in MA in the near future.
