"If we could have written our own love story, we wouldn't have come anywhere close to writing it as beautifully as God has written it for us."
Alexander and I met on a dating app in 2021, we began with a simple phone call that quickly turned into daily phone calls. He mentioned to me that he was moving out of his place, I mentioned that I would be moving out of my place as well. We would later speak on the phone daily, endless conversations about our days and getting to know each other, after a couple of weeks, he asked me out on a date, I obviously said no. I was really nervous, as we all know the pandemic happened in 2020. I had not socialized with anyone in person for a while, but he insisted on wanting to meet me in person. Eventually I said yes.
Call us crazy but on May 8th, 2021 we decided to meet. We agreed to a movie and dinner. He was a gentleman he offered to pick me up, but I decided that it would be best if we met up instead. As soon as I arrived he called me and asked me where I was. I nervously started walking behind of group of girls, and asked him if he could see me. He right away said "Yea you're the one all the way in the back of all the girls." So much for being subtle...
As I approached him we immediately locked eyes, my heart started beating really fast and all I could see were his blue eyes, they paired well with his blue shirt. We walked in to the theatre, it was empty. He suggested we sit down at a bench, I sat down close to him. Without realizing I was telling him all my adventures, my excitements, my worries. I pulled my phone out to take a selfie and I realized I was leaning on him. The moment felt so perfect, so safe. I told him that I felt like I knew him, he would just go on to smile and listen.
The movie was not great, but we didn't mind, we went on to grab some dinner. I was a chatter box, he again just listened. We both had a couple of drinks and I asked him if he could give me a ride home, I left my car at the movie theatre. He said yes, and asked where to. I told him that I was staying with my sister on a street called Fruit. He asked what was the name of the other street and I told him. We quickly realized that we were staying a couple blocks away from each other.
On the second day he called me, we spoke about how much of a great time we had. I laughed and told him how he reminds me of prince Philip from sleeping beauty and how when I was as a little girl, Prince Phillip was my crush. He giggled. I giggled. I then said to him " Oh Al, I wish your name was Alexander, that's my favorite name in the whole world, I would always imagine my future husbands name being Alexander" he paused for a moment and said "IT IS!" I rolled my eyes and said "yea right! "AL was his user name on the app and mine was SL. So I didn't believe him. Until..
He quickly sent me a picture of his I.D
I couldn't believe my eyes, his name was Alexander Starr.
I spent my entire life doodling the name Alexander in journals and diaries and drawing stars all over my room. I knew in that moment that this was something special.
On the third day we were so happy to see each other we went out to dinner, spoke about all our dreams and wishes. At the end of the night he kissed me and told me "I love you" I answered to him "how do you know, you have only met me for 3 days" he replied " I just know" he proceeded to tell me "We are going to get married have kids, have some dogs and move out to the country."
That was our start to our beginning.
Since then we moved in together. We started out with Gracie our cat, then I brought Stinky my chihuahua. Together, we adopted Georgie our mixed doggie and Arlie our cotton ball poochie. We have created a beautiful life together. We are excited to see where life takes us as we embark on this new journey as husband and wife.
We truly believe god brought us together, and for that we will forever be grateful.
