Alex and Rachel went to school together, and while they were aware of each other, they were little more than acquaintances. When they both headed off to university (Boiler Up!), Alex ended up sharing a flat with Rachel’s now brother-in-law, Adam (Adam & Grace Lyness, established May 2024). As Rachel often found herself tagging along with Adam and Grace, Alex eventually became part of the group.

After a Cane’s Kids meal, a rather burnt attempt at banana bread, and an introduction to Rachel’s beloved window plants, the two found themselves on a date at the ever-classic Nine Irish Brothers in West Lafayette. On 24th April 2022, Alex asked Rachel to be his girlfriend.

Two years and many cherished memories later—countless dates and graduation from Purdue among them—Alex got down on one knee and proposed to Rachel on 21st December 2024, surrounded by the warm glow of Christmas decorations and the Nativity Scene at St. Joseph’s Church in St. Leon. The rest, as they say, is history, and this July, these two will finally tie the knot!
