We are delighted to have you here with us as we begin this beautiful journey together. Our story began with a whirlwind and has since been filled with laughter, friendship, and countless cherished moments.   Our story began as a friend of a friend situation, resulting in swapping Snapchat handles and Alex making the first move days later (not surprising to anyone that knows Luke)! The first meetup was set on the last day of February in 2021, causing Luke to skip out of a wedding for a couple hours (sorry/thank you Chuck and Taylor!). Little did Luke and his buddies know this would ironically start his own path to the alter!   One week later, they had their first official date at Vinny Vanucchi’s in Dubuque, which turned into a long night out in downtown Dubuque at the urging of Alex’s brother Matthew, resulting in Luke meeting the parents the day after! Since the ‘Rona had most businesses closed, the Bahl family had resorted to having their Sunday breakfasts at home, and it happened to be Alex’s turn that weekend! Since then, Luke has found out that the family only considered him as another friend on that weekend, but he was quickly accepted when he was again present at family dinner that night. Alex and Luke return to Vinny’s every year for their “first date” anniversary.   The weekend dates quickly turned into family dinners, Sunday Masses, wedding dates, seasonal vacations, and weeknight runs from Monroe to Dubuque (or vice versa) to help family, friends, or just visit each other when one was feeling a little lonely. Many more branches of friends and family were met, with full explanation, orchestration, five-part harmony, and all the phenomena. It didn’t take long for the “So when’s the wedding?” statements to start flying.    It took Alex a lot to sacrifice her closet space and Luke a lot to sacrifice his wide-open green spaces, but Alex made some room at her house and Luke packed his vehicles, dogs, and essentials and moved to the city of Dubuque in October 2022 so they could start the next step of their lives together and prepare for the following ones. On their trip to Manzanillo, Mexico on January 20, 2023, at their oceanside dinner, they took things a step further, with Alex accepting Luke’s proposal. A year later, the couple returned to celebrate the anniversary of their engagement with a photo session across the beaches and downtown of Manzanillo, pretending to not be anxious about all of the impending wedding prep!   From the depths of our hearts, we want to extend our sincerest gratitude to every one of you for your unwavering love and support.
