Our Wedding

Our love story begins back in the spring semester of 2016 at Rockland Community College. I was 20 years old taking prerequisites for the nursing program and had no intentions to fall in love. I remember the day I really saw Evens.&nbsp;He was sooo fineee.&nbsp;I thought to myself wow he is so handsome, well-dressed, in shape with just the right amount of muscles, and had the freshest haircut.&nbsp;Although we never spoke, I heard he was so Christian that people called him “Ti Pastè”. These qualities together made me admire him so much that I said “ when I have a son I want him to be just like him”.&nbsp;A clean-cut, college-educated gentleman that loves Jesus. Now Evens was not a complete stranger to me, I remember someone telling me he was my good friend Lens' cousin. Since Lens had two other brothers named Weedens and Davens, the possibility did make sense to me since all of their names were so similar.That semester, I remember seeing Evens everywhere I went.&nbsp;I went to my friend's godson's birthday party, Evens was there.&nbsp;I went to the school library, Evens was there. I was running late to class (which never usually happens), so I had to park in the back of RCC, and as I’m climbing this steep hill to class, I turn to my side, and boom there was Evens again right there with me. A few weeks later, I noticed him at the cafeteria alone grabbing his lunch so I invited him to sit with me and my friend innocently since he’s Lens’ cousin.&nbsp;After he accepted my offer,&nbsp;I learned we had the same anatomy and physiology professor.&nbsp;This allowed us to become study buddies where he would give me some “poul” since he had the class at an earlier time in the day than me. Our study sessions allowed our friendship to grow, but when we started studying the bones of the body, everything changed.&nbsp;When he placed his hand on my tibia, it sparked a flame. It was then I realized there was absolutely no way we could just be friends.&nbsp;As I stated earlier, I was very serious about my education, and I didn’t want any distractions so I tried to distance myself from Evens in hopes to put out the flame, but it seemed as if Evens was just getting started on working his way into my life.&nbsp;With his Haitian man charm and just the right hint of soumoun,&nbsp;I found myself inviting him to my 21st birthday dinner at the First Republic in June of that year.&nbsp;There were about thirteen people that came to the dinner that night. When we arrived at the restaurant, he made sure to pick the seat right next to me. That night I also found out that he wasn’t related to Lens and that the similarity in the names was just an interesting coincidence.&nbsp;After dinner, the restaurant turned into a big party. The DJ started playing all the latest kompa music.&nbsp;Eventually, Evens and I found our way into each other’s arms on the dance floor. After singing and dancing to Klass, I realized Evens was the man of my dreams. He was a clean-cut gentleman that loves Jesus and he could danceee. As the night was coming to the end the waitress came out with my birthday cake. As everyone sang happy birthday for me, Evens pulled me close and gave me a big hug and a birthday card.&nbsp;That night, Evens lit a fire in my heart and I was in loveee. We dated for a little over a year then we broke up. As sad as it was, we stayed apart for about three years. In between those years, he also moved to Indiana. We have mutual friends so we would see each other here and there, but nothing came of our encounters. On August 8th, 2021, I attended my good friend Johanna’s birthday party and Evens was also in attendance. There, he approached me, and after a few minutes of small talks, he asked me for a dance, we danced for hours that night and had great time turning up like we always do.&nbsp;After the party we said goodbye but once again Evens had more plans for us.&nbsp;He found out I had recently graduated from my nursing program and wanted to give me a graduation present.&nbsp;We texted after the party and I agreed to meet up with him. When I reached into the bag, he gave me a beautiful silver pin for me to hold my work badge once I started working in the hospital. I thanked him and we hugged a little longer than usual.&nbsp;This time he told me how much he missed me and once again like he’s done before.&nbsp;Evens lit the fire of love back into my heart.&nbsp;A month later Evens drove 12 hourssss from Indiana for our first date. And since then that fire that I thought was gone forever has only continued to grow,&nbsp;bringing us to this moment.&nbsp;Marrying the man of my dreams and the love of my life.&nbsp;Evens Jean Francois.

Sansan's Side 

I remember when I first saw my baby, she wasn’t a stranger but we weren’t friends either. We used to see each other but I couldn’t approach her, because the opportunity hadn’t presented itself yet.&nbsp;Every time I saw her I always thought to myself wowww she is just soo beautiful. I even told my friends about this girl and how beautiful she is.&nbsp;&nbsp;If I could have her in my life I wouldn’t need anyone else, because she is just so gorgeous and perfect. When I tell you it’s like God was listening because that same week I was in the cafeteria at RCC getting some lunch, she was there and we locked eyes.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;From there on I couldn’t walk away without saying hello, so I did. We all know my girl loves to talk so she asked me “do you know Lens Alexis and if we were related ” and boom conversation sparked but it didn’t last too long because we were on the line getting food. I don’t remember what I got to eat, but she had 2 slices of pizza. A few minutes later at the sitting area upon looking for a table I hear “would you like to sit with us” you already know what my answer was, Heaven YES. So we sat together, got more acquainted, and came to find out she was good friends with some of the best people I know. By the way, I asked her for some pizza jokingly and she said no as some of us know already my girl loves to eat but doesn’t like to share her food lol, and of course, I was kind of a stranger too. But even though she said no, that day was like a dream come true, a day that I would never forget.&nbsp;From there on she was everywhere that I was.&nbsp;&nbsp;It was as if we were following each other on campus. We became good friends that spoke very often on the phone.&nbsp;&nbsp;So much so she began to call me a “zombie” because we talked so late at night, but honestly, she was the reason I was up so late.&nbsp;&nbsp;Over the next couple of weeks,&nbsp;&nbsp;We became so close that she invited me to her birthday party. Like a jènnjan ( gentleman) I&nbsp;&nbsp;got her a beautiful birthday card. Now we’re at the party, knowing how much I love to dance kompa, I ask the beautiful young lady to dance with me. OMG she was and still is the best dance partner I’ve ever danced with No Cap, I was blown away. And from there I knew I had found my love.&nbsp;After that wonderful night, we started hanging out and seeing each other more often. But there was one problem at that time, we couldn’t date each other yet, out of respect for each other since we had both recently gotten out of our previous relationships. After a couple of months, we made it official. As young as we were, we traveled together, we went out on beautiful dates together, we even visited each other's family members in Haiti together, and went to beautiful resorts together. And it was all so amazing sharing these wonderful memories together, I was truly in love. But there was a turn in the midst of it all. Throughout the years I realized sharing all these wonderful things were important but the most important is the attention, loving and the caring for each other that is most important.&nbsp;Upon having shared all these wonderful things together, I began to focus on myself, work, school, friends, and partying. Without realizing it I began to lose what was most important, our LOVE. Throughout that time I was so focused on myself, not realizing I’m not where I need to be for my Baby, out of nowhere our love died out.It was devastating when she gave me the news that we can no longer be together, me being as young and as dumb as I was, could not understand what happened. How could she do this to me after all we’ve been through, so in denial, I began to get upset at the situation and still couldn’t understand why and how this could happen.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Especially because it happened not long after we had just come back from vacation.&nbsp;After some time started to go by, after fighting and failing to get my love back, there was no hope.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;My cell phone number along with all social media platforms had been blocked from hers.&nbsp;&nbsp;Even some of our dear mutual friends parted from me. I tried so many attempts to at least get her attention wrote letters, borrowed my friend’s cell phone, even used my mom's cell phone, ask friends to put in a good word for me, attempted to see her at school, and even when I actually got to see her in person I was still failing over and over. But one thing that kept me going was prayer, I never stopped praying for her.&nbsp;So after almost a year had gone by, I decided maybe it's best if I just move on. But that was not enough to get her out of my heart. After three years passed, I still couldn’t stop thinking about her. I could not stop loving her. Even when people asked me about my love life, when will I get married and have kids, She (SanSan) was still the answer.&nbsp;When everything I tried failed, I began to get frustrated.&nbsp;&nbsp;We had a last conversation that a friend arranged, which made me give up completely. In that conversation, I asked her to just sit with me to just hear me out and she told me “ we have nothing to talk about I don’t see us ever getting back together and to stop trying to contact me” I was heartbroken it was so bad that our good friend was having a birthday party where I was going to see her and&nbsp;&nbsp;I planned to not even say hi to her.&nbsp;So fast forward to the day of the party, I arrived at the party and there were so many people there that I had not seen in years. As I entered a group of my friends along with Sansan and her friends were talking.&nbsp;&nbsp;They saw me walk in, all were saying hi and hugging, and my plan failed. I ended up in an awkward group hug and saying more than just Hi.&nbsp;A few minutes later after a couple of shots of Henny, I approached her table like a soumoun and asked her for a dance.&nbsp;&nbsp;I requested a song and when the time was right we danced and danced and it was like old times. Again we had a wonderful time on the dance floor. So while dancing something sparked and as we were chatting, I asked her to unblock my phone number and she said ok and after 3 and a half years my phone number was finally unblocked.&nbsp;It was not too long after her graduation, so before I went back home to Indiana I wanted to get Her a graduation gift. I got her a nice pin to hold her badge at work, And she loved it. And before I left, being the man that almost but never gave up, I&nbsp;&nbsp;asked her on a date and it didn’t have to be soon and I would fly in the next month for our date. She finally said OK.&nbsp;The month had gone by and I ended up driving 12 hours from Indiana back to New York for our first date after three and a half years.&nbsp;&nbsp;So I picked her up and of course, she looked so amazing, I opened her door, she got in the car and that was it for me.&nbsp;&nbsp;Seeing how beautiful she was, the fire in my heart lit up again. We went to a nice restaurant. We had an amazing time that day. And a great conversation.&nbsp;&nbsp;Afterward, we went to a nice garden by the Hudson River,&nbsp;&nbsp;looking at the city view from across it was so beautiful.&nbsp;&nbsp;Almost as beautiful as she was, and there we had our first and renewed kiss and it was incredible. We were so cute strangers volunteered to take our pictures.&nbsp;&nbsp;Then afterward got some iced cream. And from there the water returned to its source. And this Is how God made our love story happen.&nbsp;I am so so grateful to have Alexandra Charles-Pierre in my life and the bonus is that it only gets better, soon she will be my wife and I&nbsp;&nbsp;am so thrilled to spend ever after with my Baby.&nbsp;
