Our Wedding

I knew very quickly in my friendship with Alex that she was someone with whom I loved to spend time. I found myself wondering where she was if I was at church with friends and she was absent, and I found myself feeling slightly disappointed when I missed out on any opportunity to spend more time around her. I saw her happy and I saw her sad before we were together, and I found myself wanting to be a reason for her to be happy in either scenario. I found myself wanting to learn: learn how to comfort her specifically, learn what makes specifically Alex laugh, learn what receives Alex's interest and fascination. For a couple months before Alex and I started dating, you would find me saying or doing things, and then subtly-- but consistently-- finding Alex in the room to see if she laughed or smiled or even noticed that I did/said it. My eyes would just shift to her, even for half a second. I did a good bit of falling in love before asking Alex to be my girlfriend, and it did not take her long at all to catch up once we were together. As much as I fell in love with her before and during the first year of our relationship, the rate at which my love for her has grown stronger has only increased every day and every minute. On January 9th, 2022, after I had been right by Alex's side for literal hours before finally asking her out, she told me that she felt "relieved". Having Alex by my side is always like a breath of fresh air, or like a storm calmed. I've been blessed to not have to deal with many storms in my life, so the storm is often the simple fact that I was not already in Alex's presence. January 9th is also a day where I revealed to Alex via notecard (I was so nervous) that I found her remarkably gorgeous, mentioning-- if I remember correctly-- her smile, her eyes, her face, and her smile a second time. What a wonderful thing it is that I would be able to go on and on about Alex even if I did not bring up her physical beauty. She genuinely gets more and more beautiful to me constantly. I can not help but bring up how cute she is multiple times every single day. My perspective of Our Story seems to very quickly spiral into me bragging about how awesome my future wife is, but the insane amount of love that Alex and I have for each other pretty much is the story. It can be arranged by events, places, accolades, or memories, but I can not think of a better way to depict our story than depicting the love that drives it. We care for each other deeply no matter what, and every day of our story so far falls under that description. I love her most ardently, and she loves me most ardently. That is what Our Story was, what Our Story is, and what Our Story will always be.

Camden's Perspective

The story of Camden and me is one of my favorites to share because it reminds me of the Lord's faithfulness and goodness. I am reminded that God has big, beautiful plans for His children, and this one for us does not fall short but has completely exceeded our own plans and wildest dreams. Growing up, I often dreamed of my wedding day—the day that I would get to walk down the aisle in a beautiful gown toward the man God had set apart for me. I dreamed of love at first sight, a sweeping, magical moment. But our love story didn’t begin like the movies where time stands still. It began quietly with a simple friendship. Camden and I knew each other through church, but we ran in separate circles. It wasn’t until after high school, while serving our student ministry together, that we became good friends ourselves. The first time I remember hanging out with Camden alone, we played ping pong until almost two in the morning. We didn’t say much, but the silence felt easy as we simply enjoyed each other’s company. That was the first time I realized just how comfortable I felt around him. Over time, I slowly started to pick up on the possibility that Camden liked me a little bit more than just a friend. I actually remember the first time I thought this. We had an early morning meeting at the office, and Camden and I were the first ones there. Camden told me he thought I had the most contagious smile; this was the first compliment I ever received from him. I remember feeling so flattered at that moment but later realized that he probably said it because he felt something deeper for me. I had no interest in dating Camden at the time because I was consumed by a rather confusing situation. I was so adamant about not leading him on if my suspicions were indeed true. He made me laugh and smile so much, and I enjoyed being his friend—I didn’t want to risk damaging or losing that. I continued to pick up on little things that Camden would say or do that caught my attention, and I couldn’t shake the truth that was unfolding right in front of me. When his feelings were confirmed through a text he sent to our friend, Summer, I felt conflicted. I didn’t want to give him any false hope, but I also couldn’t ignore how safe, seen, and special he made me feel. I tried my best not to acknowledge any compliments he slipped into our conversations, how he would choose the seat beside me, or how I could feel his stare from across the room. I thought that if I ignored it all long enough, he would eventually move on. However, I learned that Camden was very determined, and he continued waiting for me even though he knew that I didn’t share in his feelings. Camden is an extremely patient man, and I have no doubts that he would’ve waited much longer if needed. When I was finally coming around to accepting the fact that I might reciprocate the feelings Camden had for me, I couldn’t discern if I actually liked Camden or if I liked the attention I was receiving from him. I found myself enjoying his company more, hoping that he would talk to me, laugh with me, notice me. Still unsure, I kept it all to myself, until one day, Summer casually told me that she thought we would be perfect together. That was the confirmation I needed as I felt that God was gently nudging me forward. Despite my fears, I couldn’t deny that being with Camden felt like a breath of fresh air. He created space for me to be fully myself—no pressure, just peace. I was so excited to see what God might have in store, though I didn’t want to jump into anything too quickly since I was still healing from a very emotional season. In early January, we started spending more time together just hanging out, laughing, grabbing food, and having late-night conversations. Though simple, it was enough to see how intentional he was. After church on January 9th, we were alone in the office sitting side by side, talking, and looking through some old photos. Eventually, he pulled out a little note he had folded inside his wallet and handed it to me. In just a few simple lines, Camden told me I was beautiful, that he loved being near me, that he cared for me, and that he wanted to be the reason I smile. From that moment on, I knew this was something special. That little note still sits on my bedside table and I have read over Camden’s sweet and thoughtful words time and time again, treasuring them in my heart. Aside from Jesus saving me, Camden Renner is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I look back over the years that felt so long as I waited for God to send me my life partner, and I can now see how He protected me—guarding my heart, preserving it for the one who would cherish it. I prayed that God would allow me to only date the man that I was supposed to marry. What a sweet and precious thing that my Father heard me, protected me, and blessed me with someone who loves me most ardently—someone I’ll get to love for the rest of my life. Even though I thought we’d take things slow, it didn’t take long to realize that this was it, that I was going to marry him someday. It only took us two weeks to know that we loved each other, and our love has only grown. Camden truly is my best friend, the man of my dreams, my safe place, my greatest gift. He is so much more than a fairytale Prince Charming, he is the answer to prayers I didn’t even know how to pray. Camden is honest, steadfast, kind, and ours is a love story only God could write. Loving and being loved by Camden is one of the greatest honors of my life. I am honored to have the privilege of being his friend, his girlfriend, and now his fiancée, and I cannot believe I have the honor of soon becoming his wife.&nbsp;

Wedding Guest Outfit Inspiration

Dress Code: Semi-Formal to Formal Attire   We kindly ask that our lady guests wear elegant floor-length or tea-length dresses, classic cocktail dresses, or other formal pieces. Please refrain from wearing white or cream, as those shades are reserved for the bride.   For the gentlemen, we ask that you wear a button down shirt with a suit jacket and slacks. While a tie is not required, it is highly encouraged.   Kindly avoid jeans, t-shirts, hats, sneakers, and flip flops. Please also keep the cooler weather in mind when choosing your outfit. While both our ceremony and reception will be held indoors, guests will be asked to step outside during coffee hour.   We are most grateful for your presence as we celebrate this special day.
