One day in September, I was at work and almost booked a trip to Paris with my work bestie, Chloe. I messaged Matt and explained that one weekend in December, we thought about getting the Eurostar for the night. However, Matt did not like this idea and said "I thought you wanted to go with me :(". So as I always do, I get over excited and start looking for a deal on a trip to Paris for our 9 year anniversary! (Sorry Chlo!)

We went out in October for a birthday, I had a few too many drinks and booked the Eurostar for Friday 6th January. That date being our 9 year anniversary, we booked a Michelin Star restaurant for that evening. We decided to walk towards the restaurant, along the Eiffel Tower gardens when... my heels broke beneath me. Instantly, as I would, I got in a right strop and sent Matt back to the hotel to get my Doc Martens. I'm standing on my own, in the dark with rats running past me! Not only did I ruin the vibe that night, it also made us late to the restaurant! We did however have a lovely meal and the food was beautiful, but that night was not the night.

The following day we walk for over 1.5 hours towards Montmartre for lunch, all the way back down Scare-Coeur, stopping at every shop on the way down for a bottle or red wine and a brand of Champagne we liked. It took us a VERY long time to get back to being near our hotel. We did stop off at Trocadero, where I think Matt had hoped it could happen, but it was absolutely tipping it down, and I did not have a great hood. We jumped straight onto the metro and headed back to the hotel, where we enjoyed a glass of red while getting ready for 0 plans that evening.

We left the hotel just before 8pm, arriving at a bench below the Eiffel Tower just as it started to sparkle. Me being me, I got my phone out and started to film an Insta story of the sparkles. I turned to my right to put my phone into my bag, I then turned to my left and Matt is on one knee! (Balancing on his foot as there was a big puddle from the rain earlier haha). I immediately start crying and Matt asked me to marry him. Of course, it was the most magical moment of my life, and even though I was DYING for it to happen, I was so overwhelmed and emotional. Having no plans allowed us to FaceTime our family and close friends to share the news. We wandered through Paris that evening, found a local restaurant, popped a bottle of champagne and enjoyed every moment.
