Alex and Nimesh met in 2019 when Nimesh was a rotating through the PICU Alex was a nurse in.

Nimesh would love to tell Alex jokes to get them through the work day. One day when Alex was particularly busy taking care of a sick patient, Nimesh was asked by his intern if he wanted a subway sandwich. When Nimesh responded a spicy Italian he knew there was a joke there. Later that day when Alex was putting on isolation gear to enter her patient's room Nimesh shouted, across the entire unit, "Hey if you were a subway sandwich- what would you be?"

Alex was obviously confused.

Nimesh, noting the confusion, confidently stated, "Because you'd be a spicy Italian."

Alex rolled her eyes and went into her room.

It was in that moment that they fell in love and haven't looked back since.
